Day 1b Started
Here we are once again bringing you all the action from the final stop on Season 5 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour. Today is time for Day 1b of the NZ$3,000 ANZPT Queenstown Main Event.
Running as the second of three Day 1 flights, we are expecting a solid field similar to yesterday’s 40 entrants. What was originally scheduled for six 60-minute levels was yesterday reduced to just five levels, so it’s going to be another short day at the felt.
There are still plenty of players in town whom have yet to take to the tables of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event, including Team PokerStars Pros Bryan Huang and Roy Bhasin. We aren’t 100% sure these guys will be in action today, but there will certainly be plenty of other recognisable faces trying their hand at becoming the latest ANZPT champion.
The sun is shining outside, but the air is still icy cold, so we will happily be calling the warmth of the SKYCITY Casino home for the next six hours or so as we bring you all the updates from Day 1b of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event. Don’t miss it!

A quick introduction from SKYCITY Casino Manager Andrew Gray and the cards are now in the air on Day 1b of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event.
As was the case yesterday, the players start with 20,000 in chips and will be partaking in five 60-minute levels.
Let's see who is at the tables!
There are currently 35 players at the tables here on Day 1b of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event. Registration is open for the first couple of levels, but we don't expect there will be more than one or two late entrants.
Below is a list of some of the players currently ruffling chips at the felt of the SKYCITY Casino. Among these players is last year's ANZPT Queenstown runner-up Ken Demlakian.
Player | Chips | Progress |

Ken Demlakian | 20,000 | 20,000 |
Michael Fadersen | 20,000 | 20,000 |
There's always one of those tables that's full of familiar faces. Today we have sitting at the same table Michael Guzzari, Mishel Anunu, Dean Schneider, Jordan Westmorland and Ricky Kroesen.
Two of these players are definitely familiar with each other as they were both at the final table of this event last year. We are referring to Westmorland and Kroesen. Westmorland finished 3rd for a NZ$41,200 score, while Kroesen took home NZ$34,200 for his 4th place finish.

Dean Schneider | 20,000 | |
Jordan Westmorland | 20,000 | |
Ricky Kroesen | 20,000 |
There hasn't been too much big action during these early stages of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event. We did see a couple of hands on the turn on two different tables though.
The first hand we saw involving one opponent and Ricky Kroesen. There was well over 1,000 in the pot on the turn of a board and the play was checked to Kroesen, who bet 550. That bet was enough to see Kroesen scoop up the pot.
Just a few moments after the above hand and we noticed on another table, three players committing 400 each on a flop. The dealer then flipped over a turn and Pravin Harji bet 750 into a pot of around 2,000. Harhi's opponents, including Michael Fadersen, let their cards go and Harji scooped up the pot.
Harji is no stranger to poker success in New Zealand, finishing 3rd in the 2012 ANZPT Auckland Main Event.
We didn't catch the hand (or hands) that saw Dean Schneider move his stack to around 40,000 in chips, but we did recently see him add a few more to his early chip leader status.
It started with Michael Guzzardi raising to 200 from the hijack. Joran Westmorland made the call from the button and Schneider called from the big blind. On the flop, Schneider checked and Guzzardi bet 400. Westmorland quickly got out of the way, while Schneider flicked out a call. The dealer flipped over a on the turn and both players involved in the hand quickly checked. The river brought about a and Schneider bet 600. Guzzardi wanted no part of it, letting his hand go as Schnieder added a few more chips to his stack.

Dean Schneider | 40,000 | 20,000 |
