Voegele Takes Out English

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The table folded around to Tim English in the hijack, who opened to 1,400. Octavian Voegele was in the cut-off and bumped it up to 5,700. The button and blinds folded, as English grabbed all his chips and went all in. Voegele snap-called, as both players tabled their cards.

English: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Voegele: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts} to see English sent to the rail, as Voegele moves up to 90,000 in chips.

Kroesen Dethroned

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ricky Kroesen’s day has been cut short after the fall of an unfortunate river card. Kroesen opened the action from early position with a raise to 2,700 before his opponent three-bet to 7,700. Back on Kroesen and he moved all in for around 30,000 with his opponent quickly calling with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Kroesen tabled {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and was looking good to double up until the board was spread {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Spades}{A-Hearts} to send him to the rail.

Pedley Outkicked

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Michael Pedley has taken a big hit after getting aggressive on a flop of {J-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Pedley bet out from the cutoff and was met with a raise to 17,700 from the player on the button. Pedley moved all in to put his opponent to a big decision for his tournament life. With around 30,000 more behind, the player eventually made the call with {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} top pair to notch Pedley’s {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} to bring some chop possibilities but the river {2-Clubs} dented Pedley who slips to around 20,000.

Patience is Rewarded for Birman

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Paul Birman has been waiting patiently for his chance to strike and he just found it with a much needed double up. With a couple of limpers in front, Birman looked down at {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} in the small blind and made the easy decision to move all in for his last 10,400 chips.

One limper made the call with {a-Hearts}{9-Spades} but the kings held true on the {5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} board. Birman is back up to 25,000 and now has a few fighting chips in his arsenal.

Margina Takes the Chip Lead

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We arrived at the table to the screams of cheer as Alexander Margina rivered a one-out straight flush to eliminate his opponent. With the flop reading {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, both players moved all in and tabled their cards.

Margina held {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} but had been out-drawn by his opponent who had {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. The blank {5-Hearts} fell on the turn, and with pleads of “six of diamonds,” from Margina and co, the dealer produced the magic {6-Diamonds} card on the river to see Margina leap from his chair in excitement.

His opponent could only smile and shake his head, as he walked out of the tournament room, as Margina now moves up to
240,000 in chips.

Tartaglia Loses Battle

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

A short-stacked Tony Tartaglia vowed to the table that he would move all in dark until he was back up to 120,000 in chips.

He did so and woke up with {a-}{3-} and defeated the pocket queens held by his opponent to move back up to 35,000.

In the very next hand, the player under the gun opened to 5,100 and was called by the player on the cut-off. As promised, Tartaglia moved all-in dark, and the original raiser took the chance to move all-in over the top for 62,000 to scare off the other player.

Tartaglia: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Tartaglia had actually woken up with a decent hand, but it was short-lived, when the board ran out {5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, to see him hit the rail just before the last break of the evening.
