Welcome Back to Day 1c of ANZPT Melbourne!

Welcome back to Melbourne for Day 1c of the 2013 PokerStars.net ANZPT Main Event Repechage, from the Poker Room here at Crown Casino.

The past two days have seen a combined total of 478 entrants take to the field, with 61 making it through to Day 2 starting tomorrow. Anthony Hachem was able to come out on top of Day 1a with an impressive 386,000 in chips, but it has been Daniel Neilson who has stolen the spotlight so far, after amassing a monstrous 613,000 chips after his efforts over Day 1b.

Today will see many return for a third and final attempt at making it further in the tournament. Players like Liam O’Rourke, Andrew Hinrichsen, Tom Grigg, Kristian Lunardi and Dave Allen will all be hoping to put the last two days behind them, as they go about accumulating a stack from the very start of play.

Day 1c will easily be the largest day, with tournament staff hopeful that they can reach the 400-runner mark, seeing the prize pool reach almost $900,000.

Be sure to stay tuned, as the PokerNews live reporting team bring you all the live action, starting in just under an hour’s time at 12:10pm local time.

Broom Pays it Off

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Amanda De Cesare started the hand off by opening to 275 from under the gun. She was called by the player in middle postion and hijack as well as James Broom in the cut-off. The flop fell {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and the action checked around to Broom who threw out 450. De Cesare and the player in middle position folded, before the hijack called to see the {4-Spades} come on the turn. A quick check from both players saw the {j-Clubs} complete the board, as the player in the hijack immediately threw out 700 in chips. Broom made the call, but mucked his cards when his opponent tabled {k-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for top two-pair.

Hi Mum

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We were walking past Table 49 when one of the players asked if he could do a shout out to his mum.

“What’s your name?” asked the field reporter.

“Just say that Glenn says hi mum,” said the player.

In a recent hand, ‘Glenn’ opened to 450 from middle position and was called by the player in the hijack. The flop fell {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{K-Hearts}, and ‘Glenn’ checked, before quickly folding when his opponent threw out 750 in chips.

Guerin Pays off Quads

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to find the board showing {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} with Didier Guerin facing an all-in call of 4,475 from his opponent.

“Did you call the flop with a seven?” asked Guerin, confused about the river play.

He eventually made the call, only to muck his cards, as his opponent tabled {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Guerin falls to 6,000 in chips early in today’s proceeding.
