Kanaan Makes Good Call

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

With the board reading {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, the player sitting under the gun checked as Michael Kanaan bet out 3,200. He called as the {7-Clubs} completed the board. Once again he checked, and Kanaan took the chance to throw out another 7,000. This time he was met with a raise to 15,100 which had he stumped. He sat there, confused about the bet, before talking himself into making the call, bringing a quick fold from his opponent. Kanaan tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for the best hand, as he moves up to 46,000.

Guerin Commits Himself

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The action started with the player in late position opening to 2,500 and finding a call from the hijack, before Didier Guerin raised to 5,600 from the cut-off. The small blind made a quick call, as well as the player in the hijack.

The three watched as the flop fell {3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} as both the small blind and hijack checked. Guerin took the chance to throw out a continuation bet of 8,200, resulting in a snap-muck. The player on the hijack, however, instantly moved all-in for 19,200, sending Guerin into the tank. He eventually made the call as both players tabled their cards.

Guerin: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Guerin was behind to over-pair, but had outs to improve his hand. The {3-Diamonds} and {Q-Spades} wouldn’t help though, as he dropped down to 14,500 in chips.

De Cesare Makes the Call

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With the flop reading {3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Amanda De Cesare checked from the big blind, as her opponent put out a bet from the button. She opted to raise to 5,200, but was met with a quick raise up to 15,000.

“How much do you have behind?” asked De Cesare, as her opponent moved his hands out of the way.

“I’ve just got these left,” replied her opponent, shuffling his last three 100-chips in his right hand.

She sat there for a moment before pushing the extra few chips in, committing her opponent to the pot.

De Cesare: {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Her opponent had been caught out, as her top-pair was good heading to the turn and river. The board ran out {k-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} to see De Cesare hold, as she moves up to 70,000 in chips.

This Hand Never Loses

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With a raise from Ricky Kroesen in the cutoff and a call from Tom Grigg on the button, action was with Ivan Zalac in the small blind who announced himself all in for 10,400. Kroesen deliberated before folding but Grigg made a quick call.

Grigg: {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Zalac: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

After sharing an expletive with the table, Grigg was quick to point out that “this hand never loses”. He was right as the board was spread {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{J-Spades}{6-Spades} to give Grigg a straight for the knockout blow. An unlucky Zalac will have to fire a third bullet tomorrow as Grigg is now up to 60,000.

English Triples, Harji Wins Too

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

We’re unsure of how the action went down, but we arrived at the table to see Tim English all in, with his pot to one side, as well as Pravin Harji all-in over the top for an additional 57,900. They were both waiting for their opponent, who tanked for over a minute, before making the call.

English: {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Harji: {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}

English took the lead when the flop fell {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Spades}, but fell behind to Harji when the {A-Spades} hit the turn. Luckily, the {7-Clubs} came on the river to give English a straight and the main pot, as Harji scooped in a side pot worth more than 100,000 in chips.
