Time to Crown an ANZPT Perth Champion

This is it. The final day of the first stop on Season 7 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour.

Today we crown a champion of the ANZPT Perth Main Event.

The player who will be quietly confident coming into today is Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang. Not only does he have the lead with a stack of 779,000 in chips, he also has plenty of experience on a big stage such as this.

Huang does have some tough competition with Australia's Michael Guzzardi and Macau's Raiden Kan both coming off an impressive few months at the felt and both looking for a big score. The rest of the final table can't be underestimated either, with Michael Kane, Navin Bechar, Robert McLean, Stephen McHugh, Michael Doyle and Gregory Wheeler all keen to catch their own piece of poker glory.

Cards Flying at the Final Table

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

With an introduction from APPT President Danny McDonagh, cards are now in the air at the ANZPT Perth final table.

The clock has been wound back to the beginning of the level with blinds at 5,000/10,000.

On Season 7 of the ANZPT, levels are now 75 minutes at final tables.

Slow Start

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

It's been a slow start here at the ANZPT Perth final table.

The only hand that looked like it was going to go somewhere started with Gregory Wheeler opening to 25,000 from middle position. Michael Kane called on his direct left, while Robert McLean called from the big blind.

On the {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop it was checked to Kane who bet 38,000. Wheeler was the lone caller to see a {3-Hearts} land on the turn .

This time Wheeler led for 55,000 and Kane went into the tank.

Kane started some banter with Wheeler, but ultimately decided to fold.

Some For Guzzardi

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Guzzardi has just won some chips to see his stack edge closer to chip leader Bryan Huang.

This one started with Huang opening to 20,000 from early position. Guzzardi called out of the small blind and so too did Michael Doyle out of the big blind. When all three players checked the {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop, the dealer turned over a {3-Clubs} and Guzzardi led for for 50,000. Doyle got out of the way, while Huang called.

The {9-Spades} river would see Guzzarid lead out for 125,000 and after a few moments, Huang let his cards go.

First Final Table Shove

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

We have just seen the first all-in shove at the final table.

The hand started with Robert McLean opening to 22,000 from middle position. Michael Guzzardi made the flat-call on his direct left and then Michael Doyle three-bet to 45,000 from the cut off. McLean opted to fold while Guzzardi looked at Doyle's stack before making the call.

On the {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop, Doyle moved all in and Guzzardi folded.

Doyle, the short stack, is now a little healthier on over 200,000 in chips.

Guzzardi Staying Active

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Guzzardi seems to be the most active at the final table so far, though in general, it's still been a very slow start to the action.

One of the few hands that went past a flop began with Guzzardi opening to 20,000 from under the gun, which Navin Bechar called from the button, while the rest of the table was out of the way.

On the {2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop, Guzzardi led for 25,000 and Bechar called.

The turn was a {q-Hearts} and this time Guzzardi checked to Bechar, who bet 53,000. Guzzardi got out of the way and the pot went to Bechar.

More For Guzzardi

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Guzzardi continues to play lots of hands and quite a hefty one recently went in his favour.

It started with Gregory Wheeler opening to 25,000 from under the gun. Guzzardi called out of the small blind and Michael Doyle called from the big blind. On the {4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop, it was checked through to a {3-Hearts} turn. This time Guzzardi checked, Doyle bet 35,000 and Wheeler called before Guzzardi check-raised to 85,000. Doyle got out of the way, while Wheeler opted to call.

On the {q-Diamonds} river, Guzzardi led out for a large 120,000 and Wheeler called.

At showdown, Guzzardi tabled his {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} which was enough to send Wheeler's cards into the muck.

Kane Gets Some Off Huang

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang hasn't been able to win a pot at the final table so far. He recently lost quite a large one to Michael Kane in a hand that started when Kane limped the small blind and Huang checked the big blind.

Kane then led three streets on a {5-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Hearts} board, betting 12,000 on the flop, 23,000 on the turn and 52,000 on the river.

Huang flat-called every street and mucked on the river when Kane showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

McBattle

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Robert McLean and Stephen McHugh have just rumbled in a pot.

It started with McLean opening to 22,000 from under the gun. McHugh three-bet to 46,000 on the button and McLean called.

On the {k-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop, McLean led for 44,000 and McHugh raised it up to 100,000.

Too rich for McLean and the pot went to McHugh.
