Dave's Time to Double

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The double ups have been flying fast.

It was Dave Fox who double this time. He moved all in for 33,000 from under the gun before Justin Nguyen moved all in for 120,000 two spots to his left. The rest of the table was out of the way and Fox turned over his {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, which was in trouble against Nguyen's {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

However, Fox found a straight on the {6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Spades} board run out.

"It's like making love," Fox said as he scooped the chips. "It's all about timing."

Double Double for Carpenter

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Colin Carpenter has found two double ups in a row to sit with a much healthier stack.

Carpenter first got just over 30,0000 in chips in the middle from the big blind holding {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} against the {k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} of Ben Cox from the big blind. The board ran out {5-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Spades} and Carpenter scooped the double.

The next hand and Cox opened from the button before Carpenter three-bet all in from the small blind. This time Rined Namrood over-shoved from the big blind for around 295,000 and Cox got out of the way. Carpenter had {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} against Namrood's {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and the board ran out {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts} to see Carpenter move up to around 150,000.

Rann Running Home

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The UK's James Rann has just been eliminated.

Rann final tabled the Aussie Millions earlier this year but has busted to his opponent Yanji Ge.

We caught up with the action on the {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop with Rann having put out a bet of 20,000. Ge raised to 45,000 and Rann paused before announcing all in. Ge made the quick call.

Ge held the {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for bottom pair and a flush draw and Rann held the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for a bigger flush draw and two overs. The {5-Spades} turn card removed Rann’s pair outs and the {5-Clubs} river gave Ge a full house and Rann was forced to hit the rail.

Ge has now moved up over 210,000.

While Rann has been eliminated, he can take some solace in the fact that this result will see him move to number one on the ANZ Player of the Year race.

Rafferty Sends Ong Home

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Tom Rafferty had only just arrived at the table and was still stacking his chips but he was still able to eliminate a player.

A raise from Chu Kheng Ong from the under-the-gun position received a caller from Denis Sekuloski and Tom Rafferty from middle positions. The three players saw the flop of {7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Ong opted to move all in for close to 80,000, Sekuloski got out of the way but Ong received instant call from Rafferty as he turned over {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for bottom set.

Ong was drawing slim needing running Jack-Ten to survive. However, it was all over on the turn of {6-Spades} and when the insignificant {4-Clubs} fell on the river. With that, Rafferty scoops up the chips, moving close to 400,000.

Rined Cracks Kings

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Rined Namrood survives elimination after cracking kings.

The action folded to Colin Carpenter who raised to 12,500. Namrood announced all in and there was a snap call from Carpenter who turned over {K-}{K-} and Namrood showed the {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and was the at risk player. The {A-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop put carpenter ahead and the {A-Clubs}{6-Hearts} turn and river ensured Namrood would receive the double after handing Carpenter the bad beat. Namrood has now moved up to 220,000 in chips whilst Carpenter is down to 80,000.

Adil Gone

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Adil Bayazitli has been eliminated.

Bayazitli had moved hive very short stack all in holding the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and was called by Tae Park with the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

The flop produced a sweat as it fell {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades} giving Bayazitli straight outs but the {Q-Spades} turn and {J-Clubs} river was no help as Park scoops the pot and moves up to 55,000.

English One More Gone

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Tim English was down to his last 7,000 in chips which he splashed in the middle from the big blind following the open raise from Steve Pappas.

English was hoping for at least a sweat with his {J-Hearts}{3-Hearts} against Pappas’ {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} but it was all over pretty painlessly on the board of {q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} sending English to the rail.

As previously mentioned we will be updating the exact placings as soon as that information is made available to us by The Star.
