Sharpe Out, Chua Building Back Up

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Vincent Chua has recovered nicely from his bubble hit, thanks to some good fortune that has catapulted him back into the chip lead.
There was heavy action preflop as Chua and Luke Sharpe went to war with both players committing their entire stack.

Sharpe showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and it looked like we were heading for a split pot when Chua showed {a-Spades}{k-Spades}. However the board of {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} would bring three spades to give Chua the winning flush.

Sharpe trudged off to the cashier in 53rd place as Chua climbed back up to 590,000 in chips.

Consistent Brabin

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Luke Brabin is proving his consistency on the ANZPT once again with another deep run here in Melbourne. It’s his sixth career ANZPT cash which puts him in the top five for the number of cashes in ANZPT history alongside Tony Hachem (9), Ricky Kroesen (7), Danny Chevalier (6) and Jie Gao (6).

In a recent hand Brabin managed to escape a potential cooler of two big pocket pairs. We arrived to see a flop of {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and Joe Reina leading out for 20,000. The player on the button called, as did Brabin from the small blind as the {7-Clubs} hit the turn. Brabin checked and Reina bet 45,000. The button folded and Brabin gave it some thought before also releasing his pocket jacks face up. Reina reciprocated by revealing pocket queens for top set!

“Glad I didn’t hit my jack then!” laughed Brabin as he drops to 160,000 with Reina looking strong on 550,000.

Diamonds Are a Man's Best Friend

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

"Diamond!" Shouted Juicy Li from the rail as she sweated the tournament life of Steven Zhou.

At this point a {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} board had ran out to the turn and Zhou was all in with {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} against {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}.

River: {q-Diamonds}

"Yes!" yelled Li as Zhou raked in the chips.

Zhou was all in for just around 30,000. He's still alive with 46 players remaining as we near the final break of the night.
