Welcome back to the Crown Casino! We are here for Day 2 of the 2014 ANZPT Melbourne Main Event. The dust has settled on two huge Day 1 flights and now the record-breaking 516-player starting field is down to 179.
Leading the way, with the only stack above 200,000 in chips, is Vincent Chua. A big Day 1b saw Chua amass a stack of 210,100. Chua will begin the day well ahead of Day 1b’s Shy Jachimowicz with 177,300. Both Chua and Jachimowic finished with more than the Day 1a chip leader Anthony Legg, who will take 160,200 into Day 2.
There are dozens of notable players with plenty of chips including players from Day 1b like Fabian Craib (129,500), Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang (123,800), Luke Edwards (115,300), along with Day 1a players Daniel Botta (134,100), Dean Francis (119,700), Tristan Bain (110,800), 2011 APPT Melbourne runner-up Phillip Willcocks (110,000) and Adrian Attenborough (99,600).
Some of the other still alive and kicking include Matthew Rolfe (99,200), Steven Zhou (98,800), 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Joe Hachem (93,800), Anthony Aston (76,900), Luke Sharpe (71,900), Jazz Mathers (67,500), Matt Wakeman (50,300), Jackie Glazier (36,000), and Liam O’Rourke (30,000), just to name a few!
All of the returning players are hoping to keep their chance of claiming a piece of the $1,032,000 prize pool alive. It's the top 63 players who will finish in the cash, which is likely to be reached sometime in the early stages of Day 2. At this point it looks the plan is to play nine 60-minute levels on Day 2 and then return to finish it off on Day 3 with around four tables.
Be sure to stay tuned to all the live updates from 12:30 p.m. local time as we start moving towards the business end of the action!
Level: 9
Blinds: 600/1,200
Ante: 200
Chip bags have been ripped open and the cards are now in the air!
Day 2 kicks off at Level 9, with blinds at 600/1,200.
The plan is to play nine levels today.
There are 179 players returning, only 63 will make the money.
Player have just been informed that we are definitely playing nine levels tonight and there will be no dinner break, just an extended 20-minute break after six levels. That amount of play will likely see us well into the money, but quite a way off the final table. The day should end at around 10:20 p.m. local time.
Plenty of empty seats in the first few minutes of Day 2.

One of the few ladies in today’s field, Julie Olivieri, is down to meagre 6,000 after losing most of her chips to Jordan Tentori.
We picked up the action on a flop. There was around 9,000 in the pot at this point and Tentori was first to act. He moved all in for 11,800. Olivieri went deep into the tank. Eventually Olivieri called and tabled her . Those queens weren’t in good shape against Tentori’s . The turn and the river didn’t help Olivieri and with that, the double went to Tentori. Even with this win, Tentori is still down on the stack that he started the day with.

Kahle Burns started Day 2 with a pretty comfortable 43,700 in chips but they didn’t last him too long. Burns got involved in a preflop war holding but ran smack into Matthew Edwards’ .
Burns would need some help but it didn’t arrive as the board was spread .
“Well, that was quick,” sighed Burns as he departed the poker room as Edwards climbs up to a very healthy 135,000 chips.
