Brian Mcallister Eliminated in 4th Place ($37,100)

Level 24 : 15,000/3,000, 5,000 ante
Brian Mcallister - 4th Place
Brian Mcallister - 4th Place

Following a bit of a lull in the action, Brian Mcallister has been eliminated in 4th place!

Mcallister’s final hand saw action fold to him in the small blind. He jammed for 170,000 and after some thought, Dean Blatt called from the big blind.

Mcallister: {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Blatt: {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{j-Diamonds} board gave Mcallister a bit of a sweat, but ultimately he couldn’t survive as he takes home $37,100 for his effort.

Right before three-handed action was about to begin, Blatt asked the other two remaining players if they wanted to look at the numbers. Patrick Mahoney declined and so that was that.

Mahoney Takes Some Off Blatt

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Dean Blatt was on the button when he opened it up to 80,000. Patrick Mahoney called from the big blind and the dealer flipped over a {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop. Mahoney check-called a bet of 65,000 here and then both players checked the {4-Spades} turn. On the {8-Diamonds} river, Mahoney led for 170,000 and Blatt counted down his stack. Eventually Blatt folded and the pot went to Mahoney.

Blatt Getting Closer

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Dean Blatt has taken down a couple of small pots to move above one million in chips.

The most recent hand to go to Blatt began when he opened the button to 80,000. Patrick Mahoney called from the big blind and the dealer flipped over a {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop. Two checks and a {j-Spades} hit the turn. This time Mahoney led for 90,000 and Blatt called. The river was a {7-Clubs} and both players checked.

At showdown, Blatt showed {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, which was strong enough to trump Mahoney’s {a-Spades}{9-Spades}.

As he raked in his new chips, Blatt said to Mahoney: “I’m getting closer now, sure you don’t want to look at the numbers?”

Mahoney sort of laughed and said no. Blatt responded “okay, I won’t ask again.”

Mahoney Back On Top

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

When Dean Blatt folded his button, Scott Davies would limp the small blind. Patrick Mahoney then raised it up to 80,000 from the big blind. Davies called and the dealer spread out a {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop. Davies check-rasied to 375,000 after Mahoney led for 140,000. Mahoney quickly called and a {j-Diamonds} hit the turn. Two checks here and a {4-Clubs} would complete the board on the river. This time when Davies checked, Mahoney would bet 225,000. Davies tank-folded and the handy pot went to Mahoney.

Three To Break

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Not much happened during the final few orbits of that level.

The three remaining players have been sent on a 10-minute break.

We will be back with updated chip counts shortly.

Prize Pool Flattened

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The players have just paused the clock and agreed on flattening the payout structure.

They have changed the payouts to this:

1st: $120,000
2nd: $86,100
3rd $57,400

Basically, $11,900 has been taken off the top prize, $1,900 added to 2nd place and $10,000 added to 3rd place.

With that, cards are back in the air!
