Day 3 Started

Time to Play Down to Nine at ANZPT Perth

Welcome back to Crown Perth in Western Australia!

Today will see 48 players return for Day 3 of the ANZPT Perth Main Event. Each and every one of those players will be hoping to survive the night and secure a place at the final table of nine. First, however, they will have to make it into the 27 money-paying positions.

Leading the way, with 258,200 in chips, is notable local player Sal Fazzino. Patrick Mahoney, Luke Spano and Stephen Woodhead also have big stacks. Some of the others who are still alive and in contention to take home the ANZPT Perth title include Dean Blatt, recent ANZPT Auckland champion David Lim, Dylan "WhiteRabbito" Honeyman, Justin Walch, Brian Mcallister, Tristan Bain and the last remaining ladies Tamara Volkoff and Lorinda Johnson.

We will once again be here all day long providing live updates, while our friends over at the PokerStarsBlog have plenty of feature stories to sink your teeth into. Day 3 begins at 12:30 p.m. local time. Don't miss it!

Beh Needs to Battle

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Matthew Clark opened up the action to 6,500 and Bernard Beh moved all in for around 40,000 on his direct left. A flurry of cards went into the much from all directions of the table and it was back on Clark. He called off his remaining stack of around 30,000 and was at risk.

Clark: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Beh: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

“What a flop,” quipped Clark as the dealer slid out {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts} to give him Broadway.

The turn was a {6-Spades} and the river a {6-Clubs} and with that Beh was left very short, while Clark had doubled up.

Unlucky Lim, Fortunate Davies

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

When the action folded around to Aaron Lim in the small blind, he would shove all in, with Scott Davies in the big blind having around 30,000 behind. Davies called and was at risk.

Davies tabled his {2-Clubs}{2-Spades} and wasn’t excited to see Lim with {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}.

Davies, was however, happy to see the dealer flip over {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop.

The {7-Diamonds} turn and the {9-Spades} river were safe for Davies and with that Lim was left with around 25,000.

Beh Finds a Pulse

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Bernard Beh didn’t have a good start to the day, recently falling to under 10,000. Then he managed to double up when he got all his chips in preflop holding {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} against the {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} of Lorinda Johnson. The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Beh once again had a pulse.

Every Time Mazyar Loses

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Hong Meng Ong held {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} when he got all his chips in preflop holding {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} from the big blind. His lone opponent was Mazyar Misaghian, who held {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Ong was all in for around 27,400.

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Spades} and Misaghian said, "every time, I double them up!"

Misaghian is down to around 18,000.

Embury First One Out

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Nicholas Embury was the first player eliminated on Day 3 of the ANPZT Perth Main Event.

We didn't catch Embury's bust-out, but big-stack Stephen Woodhead is the new chip leader with 350,000, so it's safe to suggest he played a roll in sending Embury home.
