Day 1b Started

Time for the Final Day 1 of ANZPT Perth

Welcome back to Crown Perth in Western Australia! Today the second stop on Season 6 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour begins as a new batch of players take to the felt of the $2,200 buy-in ANZPT Perth Main Event.

Yesterday there were 85 entrants and today there are already around 130 entrants for Day 1b, with registration open for the first two levels of the day. It’s looking very likely that we will break the previous record of 222 players for ANZPT Perth.

The chip leader from Day 1a and the benchmark for the players here on Day 1b is Bernard Beh. He finished the night with 79,850 in chips, while Dale Marsland wasn’t far behind with 75,375.

As on Day 1a, the plan for Day 1b will be to play six 60-minute levels. At that point the surviving players will join the 54 survivors from Day 1a and return to the felt on Friday for Day 2. All the action kicks off at 12:30 p.m. local time.

Be sure to join us here at PokerNews and over at the PokerStarsBlog for all the live coverage of the latest ANZPT!

Begins Few Minutes Late, Rules Explained

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The cards are now in the air following a very important announcement from the Crown Perth staff.

All the government regulated Western Australian rules were explained to the players, with special consideration made to explain the controversial mucking rule which stung Jim Collopy on Day 1a. Basically, regardless of a players intent or what action has occurred, if a player makes any forward motion, with the cards face down, the cards are deemed to be mucked. Check out that link involving Collopy and you will get a better understanding for the strange rule. Unfortunately the PokerStars.net ANZPT staff can not make any decision to override these state gaming regulation rules.

Six Levels And The Party

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Like on Day 1a, the players on Day 1b will play six 60-minute levels. Each player starts with 20,000 in chips and the first level of the day is 50/100. There will be 10-minute breaks after every two levels.

The room is packed full of the majority of 100 plus online satellite qualifiers, so let's go see who we recognise!

Big Day 1a Field

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

There have been 161 entries so far on Day 1a, with registration open until the first break. Added with Day 1b's field, that brings the total to 244 players - a new record for ANZPT Perth when the buy-in is more than the $1,100 buy-in which featured in 2012. Great effort from the team at Crown Perth and the PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour.

Amanda Loses Some, Still Going Strong

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Amanda De Cesare is one of the most prominent Australian female poker players. She has more than $200,000 in tournament results on her resume. De Cesare is in today's field and hasn't started to badly, moving her stack up over 25,000 in chips before losing some in a hand we recently watched.

It started when a player opened it up to 450, the player on his direct left called, ANZPT Auckland champion David Lim called from the cut off an De Cesare called the button. The small blind then three-bet to 1,550, which the original aggressor called. The other two players folded to De Cesare and she put in the extra chips.

The {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop would see the small blind lead for 1,250, which only De Cesare called. Both players checked the {j-Clubs} turn and a {8-Clubs} river would see De Cesare faced with a bet of 3,900. De Cesare tank-folded and the pot went in the opposite direction of her stack.

Despite losing these chips De Cesare is still going strong on around 23,000.
