Day 1b Completed
Exactly 91 players have bagged up their chips and made their way out of the Crown Perth Poker Room as they survived Day 1b of the ANZPT Perth Main Event.
The day started with 171 entrants, which added with Day 1a, means the total field weighed in at 256 players. That’s a record for ANZPT Perth and means the prize pool is a very hefty $512,000. Of that amount, $131,900 in reserved for the eventual champion, while 27 players will make the money. Be sure to check out the full prize pool information on the payout page.
At the end of the night there was only one player with a six-figure stack and that was Brian Mcallister. He finished Day 1b with 103,175 in chips which is more than enough to be the overall leader heading into Day 2.
The closest player to Mccallister on Day 1b was Andrew Hinrichsen with 83,025. Hinrichsen is one of Australia’s finest poker talents and has a WSOP bracelet on his resume, so he certainly knows what it takes to go deep in a tournament.
Some of the other players from Day 1b who finished with large chip stacks include Cale Maclean, Luke Brabin and Andrew Hullah. Also still alive are notable players such as ANZPT Auckland champion David Lim, WSOP bracelet winner Aaron Lim, Stev Lackovic, Minh Nguyen, Asj Taylor, Full Tilt ANZPT Ambassador Tom Grigg, Dylan Honeyman and James Broom just to name a few. You can find the full end-of-day chip counts and the Day 2 seating draw in the most recent post in the live reporting blog.
These players, along with all the survivors from Day 1a and Day 1b, will be part of the 145 total returning players on Day 2. All the action recommences at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow and PokerNews will once again be on deck providing all the live updates, so be sure to join us then!

Dylan Honeyman and WSOP bracelet winner Aaron Lim are two of the best young players going around and they’ve just collided in a monstrous pot that handed Lim a big double up.
Picking it up on a flop of , action checked to Honeyman on the button who bet 4,000. That was called by a player in the small blind, before Lim upped the price to 12,500. Honeyman moved all in over the top to force a fold from the small blind, but Lim made a quick call.

Lim was in front with his set and he faded clubs on the turn and river. Honeyman was left with 23,000 as Lim now climbs to 70,000 and looks set to end the day as one of the chip leaders.

Earlier in the day, prominent Aussie player Tristan Bain was down to under 10,000 in chips. Now he is back up to 35,000 after we caught him taking down a couple of small back-to-back pots.
The first hand began when Bain opened to 1,200 from under the gun plus one. Both players from the blinds called and then check-folded to a bet of 2,100 from Bain on the flop.
The very next hand, Bain opened to 1,200 once again, this time from under the gun. The player directly on Bain’s left called and so too did the small blind. The would see it checked to Bain, who bet 1,650. The player on his left called, while the small blind quickly folded. Bain led for 4,200 on the turn and took it down.
Readers may recall that Bain, under the screen name "SkunkDen", took home just under $800,000 when he chopped the landmark 10th anniversary Sunday Million in 2011. That was the largest single online tournament result from any Australian poker player in history.
