Back to Burst the Bubble

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The 75 players have returned from their 30-minute break and the cards are once again back in the air!

The top 54 players will make the money, so we are getting ever-closer to the bubble.

The plan today is to play eight levels, as long as we make the money first, which is all but a certainty.

Gorr's Kings Won't Do

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

2011 Aussie Millions champ David Gorr is the latest casualty from the ANZPT Sydney Main Event. He was spotted on the rail and kindly recalled to us that his last chips went into the middle with pocket kings against ace-king. An ace on the flop was enough to end Gorr’s tournament prematurely.

Gill Gets Some Off Attenborough

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Adrian Attenborough raised from middle position to 4,800 and picked up three callers including Oliver Gill on the button. The flop landed {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and actioned checked to Gill who bet 9,000. Both blinds folded but Attenborough made the call to see the {3-Spades} hit the turn.

Attenborough checked and Gill pulled the hoodie over his head before checking behind. The river was the {7-Spades} and Attenborough checked for a third time. Gill gave it some thought before tossing 15,000 into the middle. That was good to take it down and move up to a healthy 165,000 chips.

Doumit Continues Domination

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Jim Doumit has continued to dominate as we head towards the money here on Day 2 of the ANZPT Sydney Main Event.

Doumit recently dealt the fatal blow to a short-stacked opponent.

It was all in preflop with Doumit holding {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} against {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Doumit was up to around 500,000 as the average is just over 125,000.

Fives Better Than Aces

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

All we heard was a loud clap and random words screaming out of Reza Vakili’s mouth.

We wandered over to his table and found that he was all in for around 70,000 holding {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} and had managed to hit a set on the river on a {8-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board when against an opponent who held {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

That’s one way to double up.

Mac Gone

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Jesse McKenzie was down to just around 50,000 when he ran his {j-}{j-} into {a-}{a-}.

No help for McKenzie and he was sent packing.

We are now down to around 70 remaining players - just under two tables off making the money.

Double Time for Vujanic

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Tanja Vujanic has landed a huge double up. We didn’t catch the action but saw the aftermath as Alex Lee was paying off Vujanic after her ace-king ended with a Broadway straight. Vujanic won a couple of side events at the recent ANZPT Perth series and is now in good shape to cash here in Sydney in the Main Event with an above-average stack of 170,000.
