Sung Too Strong for Schreiber

With about 4,000 in a pot contested between Daniel Schreiber and Steve Sung, the board showed {Q-Spades} {2-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}. Schreiber made a bet of 3,500 that Sung called. The river came down {10-Clubs} and Schreiber quickly checked. Sung settled on a bet of 6,000. Schreiber contemplated his decision for about thirty seconds before folding.

Julian Powell Triples Up

Julian Powell
Julian Powell
Julian Powell was severely short-stacked but found a spot to commit his last 2,025 chips against two opponents.

The live players checked down a board of {Q-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} but Powell's {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a set of eights were too good as he more than tripled up to 6,600 chips.

Schreiber Heating Up

Dan Schreiber
Dan Schreiber
Ivan Tan and Dan Schreiber got their chips into the middle preflop in a classic cooler situation with Schreiber's {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} fearing only one hand and that was Tan's {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

However things got a little warmer for Schreiber when the board fell {5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Spades}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} to give him the two-outer and the double up to 21,500. Tan falls to 32,000.

Betting the Ponies

Eric Assadourian and Emad Tahtouh apparently have swapped a percentage of each other. Assadourian recently walked by Tahtouh's table to check on Tahtouh's progress.

"How's my horse going?" he asked Tahtouh.

"How's my horse going?" Tahtouh responded.

The two discussed the merits of calling another player a "horse" if the swap is only 1%. Finally Assadourian asked Tahtouh if Tahtouh thinks Assadourian is a lucky player.

"Yeah, I'd say so," said Tahtouh.

"Well then I've given you 1% of my luck," replied Assadourian. Tahtouh seemed to like that, suggesting that Assadourian is 70% luckier than average. Both are doing well so far today. Tahtouh has 38,200 and Assadourian has 49,000.

Tan Takes Down Small Pot

Every pot is important, even the small ones. The small ones give a player ammunition to get involved in bigger pots. Ivan Tan called a small bet from Steven Sung with the board showing {2-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. On the river {j-Diamonds}, Tan led into Sung for 700, folding him. Tan showed {J-Clubs} {3-Hearts} as he collected the pot and increased his stack to 50,000.
