Torres Eliminated

Victor Torres has reached his personal finish line in this tournament. He open-raised all in from late position with {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} and was called by Chang Yong Suk out of the small blind. Suk tabled {A-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds}, which proved decisive on a board of all babies, {2-Spades} {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}. Torres was therefore eliminated in 29th place.

Nagashima Eliminated

Tsutomu Nagashima - 26th Place
Tsutomu Nagashima - 26th Place
Tsutomu Nagashima was all in for his tournament life with {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and found himself racing against the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} of Korean Chang Yong Suk.

The board bricked out {J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades} missing Nagashima completely to end his tournament in 26th place just prior to the dinner break. Suk will now enjoy his dinner with about 190,000 chips.

Marcus' Stack Grows

Van Marcus continues to punish his table. Sitting in the big blind, he called a button-raise and took a heads up flop of {3-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {K-Spades}. Marcus checked to his opponent, who bet 9,000. Marcus then check-raised to 23,000 and was called.

On the turn {Q-Spades}, Marcus bet 35,000, inducing a quick fold. His chip count is now approaching 300,000.

Play Resumes

After a satisfying buffet dinner, cards are back in the air.

On the last hand before the dinner break, Michael Shell, playing at the feature table in the adjacent ballroom, was knocked out of the tournament. As a result 24 players are returning from dinner to continue play. We will keep playing tonight until only nine remain.

Pacia Eliminated

Lou Pacia - Eliminated
Lou Pacia - Eliminated
Lou Pacia was disappointed to have his all in with pocket fours called by Chi Kan Tang and his pocket queens. That disappointment turned to elation on a flop of {J-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. Pacia was still elated on the {3-Spades} turn, and let out a cheer when the river came {2-Clubs} -- not realizing that the board had four-flushed to give Tang a club flush and the winning hand. Once he realized it, he reported to the payout table to collect his winnings for finishing in 24th place.

High Rollers Event Underway!

Meanwhile the High Rollers Event has kicked off on a nearby table. With a buy-in of PHP250,000 (approx US$5,000) it looks like play will initially start with only one table, although a second table is setup in preparation for any late arrivals.

Some of the starters include David Steicke, Wally Sombero, Bryan Huang and Yasuhiro Waki. We'll be focusing on the Main Event but will try to bring you updates of the High Rollers throughout the evening.

Miracle, Meet Rainier Aquino

Short on chips, Rainier Aquino open-shoved from late position. He was snap-called by Melvin "the Miracle" Matibag from the big blind. It was an ugly situation for Aquino; his queen-ten was up against pocket queens. No worries for Aquino though. The flop {9-?} {J-?} {K-?} gave him a staight that remained the best hand through the {J-?} turn and {5-?} river.
