Day 2 Completed

Set the Table -- We're Done in Manila

Hyoungjin Nam will start the final table as chip leader.
Hyoungjin Nam will start the final table as chip leader.
A long day in Manila has come to an end with the elimination of Josh Pang Ang. After starting the day with 77 Day One survivors, the final nine have emerged from the field. One of the overnight chip leaders is among them; the rest include a few players who stared into the face of improbable odds and laughed, and other players who played their typical solid game all afternoon and evening and managed to chip up when they needed to.

The final nine will return tomorrow in the following seats with the following chip counts:

Seat 1: Noh Tae Jun - 466,000
Seat 2: Lee Nelson - 238,000
Seat 3: Van Marcus - 438,000
Seat 4: Benjamin Lim - 115,000
Seat 5: Rainier Aquino - 40,000
Seat 6: Hyoungjin Nam - 561,000
Seat 7: Manish Sansi - 192,000
Seat 8: Chang Yong Suk - 539,000
Seat 9: Ramil Tandoc - 184,000

Hyoungjin Nam is the overnight chip leader, but the Day 1 overnight chip leader Chang Yong Suk is nipping at his heels. Rainier Aquino has the most work cut out for himself, as he will start the final table with a mere five big blinds.

Who will be crowned the champion of APPT Manila Season 2? Join us tomorrow at 12:30pm local time to find out!

Josh Pang Ang Eliminated in 10th Place ($6,514)

Josh Pang Ang is the final table bubble boy. He called a raise to 25,000 made by Noh Tae Jun. The two men took a heads-up flop of {10-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts}. Ang acted first and checked things over to Jun, who bet 60,000. Ang then check-raised all in. Jun quickly called, tabling the third nuts with {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. Ang could only muster up middle pair, {A-Spades} {10-Spades}, and was drawing dead after the turn fell {Q-Clubs}. The river {3-Hearts} completed the board and sent Ang to collect $6,514 for his tenth-place finish. He seemed particularly dismayed to learn that his elimination sealed the final table for all remaining players.

Dimitrios Pappis Eliminated in 11th Place ($6,514)

Manish Sansi opened with a raise to 20,000 and Chang Yong Suk re-popped it to 45,000 in position. The action folded to Dimitrios Pappis in the big blind who moved all in for an additional 20,000 chips. Sansi stepped aside and Suk made the call.

Pappis: {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Suk: {J-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The flop landed {5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Pappis spiked a pair of tens. The turn bricked the {8-Spades} but the river brought the {J-Diamonds} giving Suk a pair of jacks and the pot to eliminate Pappis from the tournament in 11th place. He'll take home $6,514 for his time in Manila.

Dimitrios Pappis moved all in from the button for his last 8,000 chips before Hyoungjin Nam raised to 30,000 from the small blind. Tasha Ellis then decided to commit her last 35,500 from the big blind and Nam snap-called.

Pappis: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Nam: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Ellis: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The board fell {9-Clubs}{A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Pappis spikes an ace to triple up, leaving Ellis heading to the exit in 12th place. She'll take home $6,514 for a fine performance.

William Te Jr Eliminated in 13th Place ($4,885)

William Te Jr raised preflop to 18,000 and found callers in Dimitrios Pappis and Hyoungjin Nam.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Te Jr moved all in for 124,000. Pappis called and Nam also called for his tournament life.

Te Jr held top pair with {10-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, Pappis revealed {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a double-gutshot straight draw, while Nam tabled {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a set!

The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and river the {Q-Diamonds} to fill up Nam. Pappis is crippled while Te Jr is eliminated in 13th place for $4,885.

Hyoungjin Nam is now a huge chip leader with over 500,000 chips!

Ellis Crippled But Still Fighting

Tasha Ellis has just taken a massive hit in a huge pot with Chang Yong Suk. With the pot already huge on a board of {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, Suk led out for 70,000 and Ellis went into the tank for a long time before declaring a call.

Suk tabled {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for quads and the stone-cold nuts as Ellis could only sigh "nice hand" as she was crippled to only 11,000 chips.

However, next hand she was all in with Lee Nelson and Dimitrios Pappis calling in the blinds. The flop of {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{A-Clubs} was checked between the live players, but then Nelson fired 25,000 on the {8-Diamonds} to force a fold from Pappis. Nelson tabled {A-Spades}{7-Clubs} for two pair but Ellis had outs with {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. She hit when the {10-Diamonds} fell on the river to complete her straight and a triple-up to 37,000 chips!
