Josh Ang Doubles Up

It was quick but not bloodless. Josh Ang opened preflop for 47,000 and was called in position by Darkhan Botabayev. Ang checked the {K-Spades} {10-Spades} {7-Clubs}, then quickly called all in after Botabayev announced he was all in. Botabayev was caught in a bad spot with {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades}, a pair of nines. Ang showed a pair of kings, {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. That hand held up through the river.

Ang's stack was counted down at exactly 250,000. He now has about 625,000.

Chen Goes For Glory

Dane Lomas
Dane Lomas
Daoxing Chen limped from the small blind before Dane Lomas popped it an additional 34,000 from the big blind. Chen made the call.

They took a flop of {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Chen checked to Lomas who fired 88,000 into the middle. Chen then shocked us all with an instant check-raise to 200,000. Lomas moved all in and Chen called.

Chen: {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Lomas: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

It was flush draw versus the overpair as the turn and river bricked out {9-Diamonds}, {5-Hearts} to leave the jacks of Lomas in front.

Lomas doubled up to around 700,000 to leave Chen once again on the short stack.

Jack For Chen To Stay Alive

Daoxing Chen
Daoxing Chen
Daoxing Chen opened with a raise to 45,000 before Brandon Demes popped it up another 80,000 in position. The table folded back to our good friend Mr.Chen who clearly has no appointments this evening, as he again sat back in his chair and gave his decision plenty of thought. Again minutes ticked by, but this time instead of folding, he decided to commit all of his final chips, with Demes immediately calling.

Chen: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Demes: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

With Chen screaming for a jack, his prayers were answered when the board ran out {2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} to pair up Chen. He survives and doubles to over 400,000 chips.

Remy Bakke Eliminated in 17th Place ($12,489)

Remy Bakke - 17th Place
Remy Bakke - 17th Place
Remy Bakke shoved his last chips into the middle preflop but threw his head back when Brandon Demes called and tabled {A-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. The reason was Bakke was dominated holding {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}.

The board ran out {Q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Demes takes it down to jump out to over 1.4 million chips with Bakke departing in 17th place for $12,489 in prize money.

With that elimination the players are now redrawing for the final two tables. Our two chip leaders (likely to be Demes and Mike Collins) will be seeded onto separate tables, with the others sprinkled around them. We'll have the redraw for you shortly.

Demes Still Climbing

Brandon Demes has been building and building and building his chip stack today. Despite minor setbacks along the way, he shows no signs of stopping. Demes was on the button for a hand against Pontus Kers. Kerus opened for 40,000 preflop with only Demes calling.

The dealer produced a flop with two Broadway cards, {3-Clubs} {J-Spades} {K-Hearts}. Kers bet 50,000 and Demes quickly called. Both players checked the {2-Diamonds} turn, bringing them to the {10-Clubs} river. Kers led out for 100,000. Again Demes quickly called.

Kers: {5-Clubs} {5-Spades}, a pair of fives
Demes: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, a pair of kings

"Not the river I wanted," said Demes with a smile as he collected the pot to increase his count to 1.23 million.

"It was the worst river for you," Kers agreed, a hint of bitterness in his voice. He has slipped down to 420,000.

Chen Goes The Spit

In a first for the PokerNews live reporting team, we've just witnessed our first emergency spit at the table. We already noticed that Daoxing Chen has been taking his time over almost every decision. In a recent hand the board read {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and Chen was in the tank for a long time facing a hefty bet. Out of nowhere Chen appeared to be about to vomit, and as the local TD quickly found some tissues, Chen desperately reached for a nearby bag to spit out some unknown substance he'd been eating.

While we all got a laugh from the antics, Chen went back to the hand. More minutes passed, Chen stood, still apparently thinking. Finally Mike Collins had seen enough and called for the clock and Chen instantly folded. His opponent Jicheng Su flashed {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and the two exchange some lengthy words in Chinese.

Not overly exciting poker, but certainly the potential for a great drama series.
