Cheong Limps

Chong Cheong
Chong Cheong

Chong Cheong limped in from middle position as the first player at the final table to limp in preflop today. Victorino Torres completed fromt he small blind and then Kai Paulsen checked in the big blind.

After a flop of {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, action checked to Cheong and he fired 60,000. Both his opponents folded and Cheong picked up the pot.

Cheong Moves to Front

Brian Green raised from early position to 55,000. Jeppe Drivsholm called out of the small blind and then Chong Cheong from Hong Konh reraised from the big blind to 195,000. Green folded, but Drivsholm came along with the call.

The flop came down {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn added the {5-Clubs} to the board and Drivsholm fired 265,000. Cheong announced that he was all in and Drivsholm folded.

Taking that pot made Cheong our new chip leader, putting him over the 1.6-million-chip mark.

Drivsholm Can't Fool Torres

Jeppe Drivsholm
Jeppe Drivsholm

Big surprise. Jeppe Drivsholm and Victorino Torres were both involved in another huge pot. Seems that Drivsholm has played almost all of the notable hands at the final table so far. He raised preflop, and Torres called. Both checked the {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. After the {3-Spades} on the turn, Torres bet 50,000. Drivsholm quickly added 100,000 to the bet, and Torres called. The {8-Spades} on the river got a check from Torres, and Drivsholm tried to take it down with a 160,000-chip bet. It almost worked, but after a few almost-fold motions, Torres made the call. And he was right. His {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for a rivered pair of eights beat Drivsholm's {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}. It was a huge pot for Torres, who is up to 1.2 million. Drivsholm is now in an unfamiliar position, shorter stacked with 600,000.

Kai Paulsen Eliminated in 7th Place (445,600 HKD)

Kai Paulsen - 7th Place
Kai Paulsen - 7th Place

Jeppe Drivsholm raised under the gun to an unknown amount and then Chong Cheong flatted from the next seat. Action folded to Kai Paulsen in the big blind and he moved all in for around 500,000. Drivsholm then reshoved all in and Cheong got out of the way.

Drivsholm held the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and was dominating the {K-Spades}{7-Spades} of Paulsen.

The flop gave little hope to Paulsenw ehn the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} fell. Only one spade was available and not much else except for a backdoor straight draw to save Paulsen from the tournament. The turn card left him drawing dead when the {8-Clubs} fell and the river finished off the semantics of things with the {4-Spades}.

Paulsen went out in 7th place, taking home a nice payday for his efforts while Drivsholm bumped himself back up to about 1.12 million.

Quick Break

The television production crew has halted the action for a short five minutes to reorganize things with about 26 minutes on the clock in the current level. The players are all running off to the bathroom and smoke breaks while the staff colors up some chips and rearranges the stacks at the table so each player can have a little more room.

Big Call by Drivsholm as Fate Brings Green to Macau

Brian Green
Brian Green

Jeppe Drivsholm and Brian Green took a flop of {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Drivsholm was first, having called Green's preflop raise from the small blind. He checked. Green fired 110,000 and Drivsholm called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and both players checked. The river completed the board with the {3-Clubs} and Drivsholm took some time before checking the action to Green. Immediately, Green held up two fingers and signaled a bet of 200,000., sliding out two stacks of T5,000 chips. Drivsholm pained over his decision for a couple minutes and then made the call.

He was right in calling as Green turned up the {K-Spades}{8-Clubs} for just king high. Drivesholm's {7-Spades}{6-Spades} proved to be the best hand and he raked in the chips.

Although this mistake failed to work out for Green, another recent mistake he made has proved to be a ice money maker for him. Green accidentally played a satellite online for this APPT Macau event. Hailing from Costa Rica, Green thought he signed up for a satellite to the LAPT Peru event coming up shortly. He won a seat and ended up making the trip to Macau. It looks like it was fate as he's parlayed his small entry into a final-table appearance.
