Here are how some of the familiar faces around the room are looking at the moment, with Mitch Carle still topping the counts and a few players catching up. Prominent Australian players Van Marcus, Jesse McKenzie and David Gorr will all be looking to chip up as soon as possible, while Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang will also be looking for some help.
There was some talk over at Jesse McKenzie's table about his recent victory in the PokerStars Sunday Million, where McKenzie took down the $179,678.88 first prize.
While the discussion kept going the action at the table came to McKenzie, who raised it to 4,400 from the button, with one caller behind. The play then moved to Jonathan Karamalikis in the big blind, who asked McKenzie how much he had behind before reraising it 11,700.
With the limper out of the picture, McKenzie thought for some time before deciding to let his hand go. The other player also folded and the pot went to Karamalikis.
Unfortunately for David Gorr, he won't be crowned this year's APPT Melbourne champion, but fortunately for Gorr, Melbourne has been good to him in the past with some nice scores, including taking down the Aussie Millions earlier this year for a hefty $2 million first prize.
