Greg Familton and Jeremy McDonald have been battling it out over at their table, with the two players being involved in quite a few hands in the last couple of levels.
We came to the table with a turn card beaing dealt and the board showing . Familton checked to McDonald who bet 4,500 and another player involved in the pot got out of the way while Familton made the call.
The was the river card and when McDonald checked, Familton announced he was all-in for a total of 17,800.
McDonald then went into the tank for a few minutes before sighing and open-folding .
"Nice hand," said McDonald as Familton raked in the pot.
The last level of the day has just commenced. Still in the field but struggling for chips is 2011 APPT Melbourne Main Event Champion Leo Boxell, while it is 29 players who still survive with 60-minutes of play left for the day.
The action was started by Jeremy McDonald when he opened to 800 from middle position. Three players made the call inclduing Dennis Huntly in the small blind.
The flop was dealt out and the action was checked to McDonald who threw in 2,000. Huntly was the only player to make the call as the hit the turn. Huntly again checked the action to McDonald who again bet 2,000. Huntly then tanked and eventually called.
The river was the and when Huntly checked McDonald pushed the remainder of his stack in the middle, exactly 8,375 in chips.
Huntly didnt seem happy about McDonald's move, tossing his cards with fury as McDonald took down the pot.
Dennis Huntly's last hand of the evening started off with a flop showing and Nicholas Wright checking to Huntly, where he bet 2,800. When play was back to Wright he would move all-in for over 23,000 more than enough to cover Huntly. Huntly needed to think.
"I'll show if you fold, i'll show if you dont fold," said Wright
"Do you want me to call?" asked Huntly.
"I think you're behind," replied Wright.
"It's either a yes or a no," Huntly fired back.
"No," replied Wright, before adding "Actually, i dont mind."
At this point, Huntly thought for a few moments before making the call and putting his tournament life on the line.
When Wright showed his it would be well ahead of Huntly's and when the turn and river bricked it was home time for Huntly.
A double elimination has just occured, with Leo Boxell and Joshua Jurcic casualties of Alicia Sale.
We caught the action with a flop showing and the short-stacked Jurcic and Boxell having the rest of their chips in the middle against the much larger stack of Sale.
Sale:
Jurcic:
Boxell:
There was little Boxell could do with his tiny stack and with this flop he was drawing to running-cards that would never come as he made his way to the door. Jurcic was in front on the flop, but the on the turn would give Sale the nut-flush and she would send two players off the table and out of the Summit Room.
Alicia Sale is dealing fatal blows left, right and centre with Joel Dodds the latest victim of her poker death touch.
The preflop action would start when Dodds raised to 1,150 from late position with one limper behind. Sale made the call from the cutoff seat and a flop would be dealt.
The on the flop would see the limper check-fold after Dodds led for 2,050 and Sale snap-raised to 5,000. When the action was back on Dodds, he raised to 8,250 and Sale snap-called.
The on the turn saw Dodds put in his stack of big-denomination chips to the value of 26,500 and left himself with 3,000 behind. Sale tank-called and Dodds put the rest of his chips in blind before the was dealt on the river.
When Sale called it was all over for Dodds as Sale turned over , too good for the of Dodds.
Alicia Sale now becomes the first player to crack the six-figure mark!
Brad Bower has been nursing a relatively short-stack for the last couple of levels but has finally managed to double-up when he got all his chips in the middle holding against an opponent’s .
The board ran out and Bower took down the pot to survive late into Day 1c.
The clock has been paused on Day 1c of the 2011 APPT Queenstown Main Event with the players having 5 more hands dealt to them. Stay tuned to see who makes It through to Day 2!
