Day 1c Completed
The final day one flight at the 2011 PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Main Event came to a close today, with another small field adding 23 more players to tomorrows Day 2 action.
There were a total of 43 entries on Day 1c, and while only 36 of those actually took to their seats there were no complaints, with the seven no-shows leaving thousands of dollars of dead-money in the prizepool.
After six levels of play it is 23 players from today who will join the 20 and 28 players from Day 1a and 1b respectively to form the 71-player Day 2 field. Some players from Day 1c who won’t be making an appearance on Day 2 include Julian Cohen, Andrew Scott and Joel Dodds.
Leo Boxell was looking good to continue his solid run in the APPT, after taking down the 2011 Melbourne Main Event just a few weeks ago, but his Day 2 hopes at Queenstown were cut short late into the day by eventual chipleader, Alicia Sale. Sale managed to work her way up throughout the day after falling to 4,000 in chips early in proceedings. Her rise to the top culminated in the double-elimination of Boxell and Joshua Jurcic.
Not only did Sale manage to top the counts after Day 1c, but will return for Day 2 on Friday as the overall chipleader. Sale adds to the Kiwi domination of the Queenstown APPT, with the top 5 chip stacks hailing from New Zealand.
The closest international player to Sale going into Day 2 is Germany’s Marcel Schreiner, while Australia’s Daniel Laidlaw and Austrian Octavian Voegele also sit close by the New Zealanders.

Alicia Sale is dealing fatal blows left, right and centre with Joel Dodds the latest victim of her poker death touch.
The preflop action would start when Dodds raised to 1,150 from late position with one limper behind. Sale made the call from the cutoff seat and a flop would be dealt.
The on the flop would see the limper check-fold after Dodds led for 2,050 and Sale snap-raised to 5,000. When the action was back on Dodds, he raised to 8,250 and Sale snap-called.
The on the turn saw Dodds put in his stack of big-denomination chips to the value of 26,500 and left himself with 3,000 behind. Sale tank-called and Dodds put the rest of his chips in blind before the was dealt on the river.
When Sale called it was all over for Dodds as Sale turned over , too good for the of Dodds.
Alicia Sale now becomes the first player to crack the six-figure mark!

A double elimination has just occured, with Leo Boxell and Joshua Jurcic casualties of Alicia Sale.
We caught the action with a flop showing and the short-stacked Jurcic and Boxell having the rest of their chips in the middle against the much larger stack of Sale.
Sale:
Jurcic:
Boxell:
There was little Boxell could do with his tiny stack and with this flop he was drawing to running-cards that would never come as he made his way to the door. Jurcic was in front on the flop, but the on the turn would give Sale the nut-flush and she would send two players off the table and out of the Summit Room.

Dennis Huntly's last hand of the evening started off with a flop showing and Nicholas Wright checking to Huntly, where he bet 2,800. When play was back to Wright he would move all-in for over 23,000 more than enough to cover Huntly. Huntly needed to think.
"I'll show if you fold, i'll show if you dont fold," said Wright
"Do you want me to call?" asked Huntly.
"I think you're behind," replied Wright.
"It's either a yes or a no," Huntly fired back.
"No," replied Wright, before adding "Actually, i dont mind."
At this point, Huntly thought for a few moments before making the call and putting his tournament life on the line.
When Wright showed his it would be well ahead of Huntly's and when the turn and river bricked it was home time for Huntly.

The action was started by Jeremy McDonald when he opened to 800 from middle position. Three players made the call inclduing Dennis Huntly in the small blind.
The flop was dealt out and the action was checked to McDonald who threw in 2,000. Huntly was the only player to make the call as the hit the turn. Huntly again checked the action to McDonald who again bet 2,000. Huntly then tanked and eventually called.
The river was the and when Huntly checked McDonald pushed the remainder of his stack in the middle, exactly 8,375 in chips.
Huntly didnt seem happy about McDonald's move, tossing his cards with fury as McDonald took down the pot.
