Wong Calls Heads, Flips Tails

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Ken Wong
Ken Wong

Ken Wong opened the hi-jack to 700 only to have the cutoff three-bet to 1,950. Wong moved all in for roughly 8,000 and the cutoff made the call to put the 2012 Aussie Millions finalist at risk.

Wong: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Opponent: {9-}{9-}

With Wong in a standard coin flip, the board would blank out and see him forced to hit the rail shy of a Day 2 berth.

Karamalikis Folds Straight

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Jonathan Karamalikis
Jonathan Karamalikis

With around 16,000 in the pot and the board reading {3-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, three players checked to Jonathan Karamalikis in the hi-jack and he spent several minutes contemplating his decision before betting out 5,600.

The player in the small blind made the call as both the remaining players took their time before folding as the dealer delivered the {4-Spades} on the river.

The small blind instantly moved all in for for roughly 10,000 and Karamalikis snap-folded his {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} while slipping to 37,000.

Gaw Stays Alive

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We missed the action, but we do know that Andrew Gaw just doubled after getting his last 9,625 all in preflop holding the {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}. His opponent had the inferior {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}, and the jacks held as the board ran out {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Gaw is not sitting on a stack of 20,000.

Chan Chipping Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

On a board of {4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Diamonds} with around 17,000 in the middle, we found Johnny Chan betting out 9,000 to nearly put his opponent all in as he had just over 10,000 behind.

Chan's opponent went deep into the tank for several minutes before he eventually folded to give the pot to Chan and send his stack climbing up to 41,000 and change.

Players are back from the break. Given the staggered nature of the breaks and levels, action resumes with 30 minute remaining in Level 3. That will be followed by the 90-minute Level 4, which is all the action that'll be played here on Day 1a.
