Argyros Just Misses Out Again

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Bill "The Croc" Argyros came 36th in this very event last year, when 32 paid. This year he busted 30th with 27 getting paid.

He moved all in for 37,500 from under the gun and was called by Qi Luo before Conor Drinan reraised to 80,000. Luo called and the action was checked to the river where a {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} board rested. Drinan checked for a third time and folded when Qi bet 51,500.

Argyros knew the game was up and it was confirmed when his {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} was beat by Qi's {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

Alner and O'Dwyer Battle

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Steve O'Dwyer raised to 5,000 preflop and Yat Wai Cheng reraised, making it 12,000. Tom Alner jumped into the fray by four-betting to 37,500.

O'Dwyer, not to be outdone, put in an 80,000 five-bet. Cheng quickly folded and Alner called. The flop came {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and both players slowed down a little as they checked the flop. The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Alner decided to bet 56,500. O'Dwyer folded, giving the pot to Alner.

Tedeschi Takes Out Li

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Paul Tedeschi went on a bit of a tear last level and he's maintained that form this level by taking out Longjie Li.

Tedeschi opened to 10,500 from under the gun before Li three-bet to 30,000 from mid position. Tedeschi called along with Guoliang Wei in the big blind.

The flop fell {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Tedeschi thought for a minute before moving all in. Li snap called all in for just over 100k and the cards were flipped up after Wei folded.

Tedeschi: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for flush and straight draws.
Li: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for an over pair.

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} to make the French pro's flush send Li packing a few off the money.
