Winin' and Drinan

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Seven-figure stack for Drinan
Seven-figure stack for Drinan

Connor Drinan's drink of choice throughout most of the ACOP Main Event has been red wine. On this hand, Drinan took a massive pot off Wat Yai Cheng after he bet-raised all in on the river.

The action folded to Drinan in the cutoff and he raised to 25,000. Cheng called from the small blind, as did Matthew Wakeman from the big blind.

The flop came {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} and Cheng and Wakeman checked to Drinan who bet 35,000. Cheng called and Wakeman folded leaving Drinan and Cheng heads up.

The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Cheng checked again. Drinan bet 55,000 and Cheng went into the tank. With his hand over his cards and his arm in front of his stack, Cheng was almost statuesque. He eventually did move and it was to check-raise to the tune of 185,000. Now it was Drinan's turn to tank. After counting out his remaining chips and then putting them back, he counted out a call and threw it into the pot.

The river paired the board with the {j-Hearts} and the statue of Cheng was at it again. This time his only movement was the shuffling of his chips. He quickly counted out 100,000 chips and bet it. Drinan didn't waste much time before shoving all in and Cheng called.

Cheng let out a sigh when he saw Drinan's {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for a full house. The dealer turned over Cheng's hand after the muck and showed {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for a turned straight. Drinan broke the one-million chip mark and took the chip lead back. Cheng was left with scraps.

Last PokerStars Pro Mikhail Shalamov Eliminated in 18th Place (HKD$289,000)

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Mikhail Shalamov - 18th
Mikhail Shalamov - 18th

The last of the PokerStars Pros has been eliminated.

Mikhail Shalamov lost a race with the now chip leader Russell Thomas. Shalamov raised from middle position to 22,000 preflop.

"How much are you playing?" Thomas asked from the small blind.

"About two-ninety to start," Shalamov said.

Thomas raised, making it 65,000 to go. Shalamov grabbed a stack of 5,000 chips and looked over his remaining stack.

"All in," he said.

Thomas redefined "snap call" and turned over {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Shalamov showed {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}.

When the flop of {10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Hearts} hit, Thomas wasn't terribly happy about it.

"Painful," he said laughingly and covered his face with part of his sweater.

The {6-Diamonds} on the turn and the {j-Clubs} on the river took the pain away for Thomas and eliminated Shalamov. Thomas has made a big run, up from having 10 big blinds about two hours ago.
