Kim Left Short; Doubles Up Close to Bubble

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Edgar Eui Kim started Day 2 with one of the bigger stacks, but he had a rough day so far. He was left with 65,000 at some point, which he put in the middle after a player's raise to 12,000.

His opponent called with {j-Spades}{8-Spades}, and Kim opened {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades} to risk his tournament life.

The board ran out {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, and Kim doubled up, even though his opponent picked up a lot of outs on the flop.

138 players are left in the event, which means that only three of them will leave empty-handed.

Playing with One Hole Card

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

An interesting hard unfolded in a table, where a player was on the big blind, and he thought that he got a walk, opening the {a-Spades}. The only problem was that there was already an open from early position, which he didn't see, exposing one of his cards.

He asked the dealer if he can still play, everybody in the table laughed, but the dealer gave her confirmation, so he called to see the flop.

The first three community cards were {3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}, and both players checked.

The {j-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and after the big blind's check, the initial raiser bet 10,000, getting a call.

The {6-Spades} completed the board on the river, and the first player checked again, with the aggressor betting again 10,000. The player who had his {a-Spades} exposed was tanking, contemplating whether he should call or not with his ace-high, as he said. The other player, to make things even more interesting exposed the {q-Spades} from his hand.

Now both players were playing with only one hidden card in their hands! The rest of the players were giving suggestions to the big blind regarding what to do, and he was asking his opponent if ace-high is good. The reply he got was that it is not good, since he said he was holding queen-jack.

Finally, the {a-Spades} player folded, and everybody prompted the other player to show his hand, which he didn't.

Lesmana continued for 29,000 and his opponent called.

The turn {7-Clubs} was checked by both players and Lesmana bet 95,000 on the {6-Clubs} river, which elicited a quick fold from his opponent.
