Mateos Doubles Through Lee

Level 35 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

The seemingly inevitable clash of the two shorter stacks eventually unfolded.

Gyuhyuk Lee had built a small lead over Christopher Mateo when several open raises to 2,000,000 got through.

Mateo then raised to 1,200,000 out of the small blind and Lee jammed, Mateos called.

Christopher Mateos: KJ
Gyuhyuk Lee: 66

The Q93 flop gave Mateo a gutshot to go with his two overcards and he nailed the 10 turn for the double as a meaningless 5 fell on the river. Mateo's double for 5,125,000 left Lee short while the local rail burst out in celebration.

Mateo Folds to Wu

Level 35 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

After the blinds had gone up, Yuanning Wu bet the 10433 turn for 1,200,000 and Christopher Mateo called. Wu announced a bet of 3.6 million on the 6 river but put in 4.6 million before it was adjusted.

Mateo tanked, used one time bank and folded the 10 face-up.

"Two point six is okay?" Wu grinned.

Gyuhyuk Lee got an open shove through soon after as Mateo forfeited his big blind and big blind ante with two low cards.

Lee Runs Bad to Chop With Mateo

Level 34 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Gyuhyuk Lee opened to 600,000 on the button and Christopher Mateo called in the big blind. On the 988 flop, Mateo check-called for 450,000 before the 9 turn and 9 river were checked. Mateo tabled his A4 and Lee sighed deeply as he exposed the A8 for a chop.

Mateo won the next small showdown pot before raising to 600,000. Lee moved all-in for 6,075,000 and Mateo folded after getting an exact count.

No All-In Calls Any More

Level 34 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Gyuhyuk Lee raised to 600,000 and then folded when Christopher Mateo jammed. Mateo then won a pot off chip leader Yuanning Wu before he himself raised to 600,000 on the button. Lee jammed his near identical shorter stack and Mateo folded the A face-up.

Other small pots followed but brought no major chip changes.

Yuanning Wu raised to 600,000 on the button and Gyuhyuk Lee came along out of the big blind.

The 994 brought a check-raise from 500,000 to 1,200,000 by Lee and Wu called after some consideration.

Lee then bet the 2 turn for 2,300,000 as Wu called, only needing a few seconds for his decision this time.

That led to the J river on which Lee checked. Wu used one time bank and bet 4,700,000 to send his opponent deep into the tank.

Lee used two time banks and called for Wu to announce the second nuts and expose J9. That won a significant pot and sent him into a commanding lead.

Lee Back in the Lead

Level 33 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante

Christopher Mateo raised to 500,000 on the button and Yuanning Wu three-bet to 1,800,000 in the big blind.

Mateo used nearly the entire 30-second shot clock and four-bet to 6,000,000 with few chips behind. Wu went into a brief tank and folded.

In a limped blind battle, the A1010 flop was checked between Mateo and Gyuhyuk Lee. Mateo bet the J turn for 250,000 to earn a call and checked the 6 river. Lee bet 700,000, Mateo paid it off and mucked upon getting shown the A7.

Yuanning Wu open-jammed out of the small blind and Christopher Mateo called all-in out of the big blind for 3,825,000.

Christopher Mateo: A10
Yuanning Wu: K5

The A107 flop cemented the lead of Mateo and the 10 turn locked up the double as the 8 river became a formality.

Soon after that, Wu raised the button and Gyuhyuk Lee defended the big blind to a 664 flop. Lee opted to check-call for 400,000 and did so again for 750,000 on the 3 turn. Both checked down the 2 river and Lee's A4 lost to Wu's 88.
