2023 APPT Manila
Satoshi Sugimoto was all-in with a short stack and the A♦2♦ to find himself dominated by an opponent with the A♥Q♦.
Things got dire on the K♥Q♠10♥ flop and 4♥ turn but the J♠ river came to the rescue.
"Just go all-in and pray," Sugimoto joked upon his fortunate escape.
There were some gasps over on table eight as Nino Pansier scored a knockout to get well above the average. Victim of the hand was Keon Yong Ma, who was covered by a few big blinds. Pansier had put his hopes on K♣9♣ for a flush draw after the A♠Q♣3♣5♥ turn. The 2♣ came on the river to complete the flush and send Ma to the rail.
Level: 15
Blinds: 2,000/4,000
Ante: 4,000
Four ways to the K♠4♠2♣ flop, Ivan Tabucal bet 10,000 when checked to. Oliver Duran was among those to fold while Alexander Cruz check-called. Cruz also check-called the 9♣ turn for 25,000 and checked the 5♥ river. Tabucal jammed for 134,000 and was trying to hide his face.
Cruz used a time bank extension and folded.
Alvin Sembrano three-bet jammed for 35,500 with the A♣Q♣ and Duy Tung Nguyen looked him up with the 10♠10♥ on the button while the initial raiser folded.
The board ran out A♥Q♦2♦5♥9♣ and Sembrano doubled to leave his table neighbour short.
Chien Chih Weng was all-in with the 9♣9♠ and up against Sukwon Lee with the A♣Q♠, while both were covered by Seongsu Kong with the A♠J♥.
The board ran out K♥7♦2♠Q♦6♦ and Lee tripled up while Weng was left with a short stack.
Following an open-raise to 6,000, Daniel Benor three-bet to 17,000 from one seat over. Jester Intia then pushed all-in for 49,500 and the initial raiser folded. Benor used one time bank extension and sigh-called.
Jester Intia: A♥K♥
Daniel Benor: K♦8♦
The board ran out Q♦4♦4♣5♠2♠ and Intia dodged the diamond draw to double.
