Welcome back to our ongoing coverage of the PokerStars.net APPT Season 8 Asia Championship of Poker! After two exciting days of poker it was Sorel Mizzi who bagged up the largest stack of the returning 62 players. Mizzi will bring a stack of 439,900 into the third day and hopes to ride his momentum through six more levels.
Registration closed after cards were in the air yesterday, allowing for a grand total of 291 entires. This meant for a total prize pool of HK$27,092,100 where the top 31 players make the money. Each player is vying for the HK$6,300,000 first-place prize and the title of ACOP Season 8 Main Event champion.
While Mizzi leads the pack, he's joined by many of poker's elite. Some of the players returning for play on Day 3 include Terry Gonzaga (309,700), Terrence Chan (284,400), reigning champion Sunny Jung (273,200), Ami Barer (226,300), Joseph Cheong (179,500), Raymond Wu (178,600), Scott Davies (166,600), Byron Kaverman (142,200), Dimitar Danchev (136,000), Celina Lin (135,100), Daniel Colman ( 130,400), Mike McDonald (125,400), and Thomas Muehloecker (80,700).

We arrived in time to see Zuo 'ST' Wang and Raiden Kan looking down at a board of . With well over 45,000 already in the middle, Wang tossed out a river bet of 16,000. Kan came over the top with a raise to 48,000 and sent Wang into the tank.
Ultimately, Wang opted to throw his cards to the muck. Kan picked up the pot and now has about 260,000 to his name.

There are a few short stacks looking to double up to get back in contention. One of them is Jack Salter and after a raise of 4,100 from Buyanjargal Bold Salter moved all in from the big blind and got a fold to add a few precious chips to his stack.
A few hands later Salter opened from the cut-off and Man Hang Cheng in the blind had a long think before letting him have the pot.

Chip leader Sorel Mizzi opened his first pot of the day for 5,000 and got called by Ami Barer, Darren Judges in the small blind and Konstantin Pogodin in the big blind.
The flop was and Mizzi continued for 11,500 when it was checked to him. Barer and Pogodin made the call and they saw a turn card . This time it was checked to Barer and he made it 27,300 finding one caller in Pogodin. A river didn’t see any further action and the of Pogodin lost out to the of Barer.

With 15,500 already in the middle, Konstantin Pogodin and Sorel Mizzi were engaged in a hand where the board read . Pogodin checked over to Mizzi who shot out 10,500. Pogodin opted to come over the top with a check-raise to 22,500. Mizzi called to see fifth street.
The dealer paired the board on the river with the . Pogodin slowed with a check and MIzzi knocked the table in reply. Pogodin showed for ace-king high. Mizzi mucked his hand and Pogodin was awarded the pot. He now has about 208,000 while the start-of-day chip leader has dropped to 386,000.
