Van Marcus Needs Two-Outer For Aces To Hold

An interesting pot has just developed between Van Marcus and Marlou Yap. Marcus raised from early position to 3,000 with {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} and was re-raised to 6,500 by Yap who held {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. It was folded back around to Marcus who re-raised to 17,000 and Yap made the call.

The flop of {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} was disasterous for Marcus, but Yap just smooth called the 7,000 bet from Marcus.

The turn then put Marcus back in the lead when he hit the {A-Diamonds}, one of the two remaining aces in the deck. Marcus pushed all in and Yap made the call but cringed when he discovered what had just unfolded.

The {3-Spades} was no help for Yap, and Marcus earns a tidy 55,000 chip pot.

Julian Powell Takes a Hit But Quickly Recovers

After taking a large hit in a previous hand it appeared that Julian Powell was simply "on tilt" when he shoved the rest of his chips into the middle before the flop. However when his opponent called with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, Powell flipped over {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and it was time for a classic race.

The race was short-lived, when the flop came {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{4-Hearts} giving Powell top two pair and a commanding lead in the hand.

The {9-Spades} on the turn and the {7-Spades} on the river, left Powell with a winning hand and he was back to 48,000 in chips.

Peter Aristidou Doubles Up Through Ronen Tzabag

Peter Aristidou limped into the pot and Ronen Tzabag raised to 2,000 which Aristidou called.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Aristidou checks, Tzabag bets 5,000 and Aristidou re-raises over the top for all of his chips. Tzabag thinks for a moment before deciding he is pot committed to make the call with {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}, but he is trailing Aristidou's {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}.

The turn is the {10-Spades} and river {7-Spades} and Peter Aristidou who was once peddling a short stack is back over 20,000 in chips.

Scotty Nguyen Rolling

Scotty Nguyen is on a roll after taking down a big pot against Henrik Gwinner. The flop was {6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Spades} and both players checked. Scotty checked again when the turn came the {Q-Diamonds}. Gwinner then bet out for 1800 and Nguyen raised to 5000. Gwinner went into the tank before making the call. The {7-Spades} hit the river and Scotty checked. Gwinner checked behind and Scotty rolled over {K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Gwinner mucked and Scotty commented "king, queen baby?". Gwinner simply smiled and play continued.

David Tam Eliminated

David Tam and Jai Cree clashed pre-flop with Tam holding pocket kings but he ran into Cree's pocket aces! The board bricked for Tam and he has been eliminated from the tournament while Cree rakes in a 45,000 chip pot.

Lisandro Eliminated

With only 1,500 chips left Jeff Lisandro pushed his stack all in from late position in the hope of stealing the blinds with {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}, however the big blind woke up with {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} and made the call. The flop was disasterous for Lisandro, bringing {J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds} to give his opponent a set and leave him drawing almost dead. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and the river {9-Hearts} and WSOP bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro has been eliminated from the tournament.

Lisandro Crippled

On a flop of {K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, George Kayshie bet out 2,200 and was quickly called by Jeff Lisandro. The {6-Diamonds} was enough to get all of the chips into the middle with Lisandro holding {K-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for top pair and open-ended straight draw. However he was going to need help as Kayshie held {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}. The rivered delivered the {A-Spades} and Lisandro was crippled. He now has only 1,500 chips left.
