Sia Plays it Safe

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Heads-up on an {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop, Eric Sia check-called a 2,500-chip bet with a few thousand in the middle already.

He also checked the {9-Diamonds} turn and after his opponent did the same, the {5-Hearts} river was revealed. Sia checked again and his opponent followed suit.

With a disappointed look on his face, Sia showed {a-Spades}{7-Spades} to take in the relatively small pot and move above the 100,000-chip mark.

Rubianes Riding High

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Vincent Rubianes
Vincent Rubianes

Vincent Rubianes has emerged as a threat here in Manila.

He check called a 5,000-chip bet heads-up on a {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board with about 9,000 in the middle, then checked again when the {q-Spades} river was revealed.

His opponent bet 8,500, Rubianes made the call and raked in the chips when his opponent threw his hand in the muck.

Zak Attacks Again

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Elan Zak had lost most of what he'd earned in that set-over-set-over-set debacle earlier when he found himself heads up on an {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop with a decent sized pot already brewing.

He checked and his opponent bet 2,000. Zak called and checked again on the {9-Clubs} turn, but when his opponent bet out 4,300, he shipped it in for 30,150 total.

His opponent went deep into the tank and the floor was called by a third player not in the hand asking for a clock. Based on the fact a reasonable amount of time had not been taken, the floor refused and a discussion about when to call the clock or not ensued.

Eventually, Zak's opponent made the call with {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and wasn't surprised to see Zak had flopped a set with {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. It held on the {2-Hearts} river and Zak is back.

Czarniecki Cut Down

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Kamil Czarniecki just took a bad beat to slim down his stack. He got in a preflop raising war from the small blind with the player on the button.

Eventually they went heads up to a {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop where Czarniecki open shoved. His opponent called it off with {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and needed a heart to survive against Czarniecki's {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}. The {k-Hearts} turn did the trick, cutting Czarniecki down to size.

Team Pro Goes Down

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Vivian Im
Vivian Im

The only Team PokerStars Pro in the field today is no longer here.

Vivian Im took a relatively bad beat calling all in with pocket kings on the river of a hand where two diamonds had come on the flop, but none since. Her opponent was on a flush draw and had missed, but back-doored his way into a straight.
