Hallbrook Can't Believe It

Crister Hallbrook proably thought he was being crafty when he smooth-called Kentaro Araki's open-raise to 15,000. He may have been more delighted when Chris Chau re-raised all in to 72,000 and Araki tanked. Arak eventually folded what he later said were pocket nines; Hallbrook snap-called with {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} and found himself up against Chau's {A-Hearts} {A-Spades}!

The flop (of course) came nine-high, {8-Spades} {9-Spades} {2-Clubs}. The turn and river blanked out to give Chau a double-up to about 150,000 while knocking a shocked Hallbrook under 100,000.
