Event 15 - $2,200 No Limit Hold'em Teams Event

Teams event starting shortly
Teams event starting shortly
Play is set to begin in just under half an hour for the No Limit Hold'em Teams Event.

Each team will consist of two players. At the commencement of play, the first partner will begin with a 5,000 chip start bank. At the completion of the first level partners will swap and the second partner will receive the remainder of the start bank (another 5,000), bringing the total to 10,000 chips per team.

If the first partner is eliminated during the first level, the second partner will enter immediately and play the remainder of the first level and the entire second level, before the eliminated partner resumes play in the third level (hopefully not getting eliminated again - otherwise the team is done!).

Heads Up Teams Event?

Bruno Portaro
Bruno Portaro
A lot of the teams have been slow filtering into the room this afternoon and so a lot of tables have started short handed. The most extreme example of this is the table that Bruno Portaro is playing at.

He has started with only one other team at his table, situated to his right. Portaro has been using position to his advantage and has taken down some early pots.

Six Tables

With the breaking of some of the shorter handed tables, the event has been merged together to form six tables. Registration is still open and the event may draw a few more pairs ready to challenge for the title.

First Change

No casualties to report in the first level, as teams now change. All teams are now playing a little deeper as their full stacks of 10,000 are now in play.

Delaney and Karamalikis Take Early Hit

Ben Delaney
Ben Delaney
With Ben Delaney in the game, the Delaney and Karamalikis team has taken a hit to their chip stack. Another player opened to 300 and Delaney came over the top for 1,200. The other player came right back over the top moving all in. Delaney made the call and tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades}, his opponent in very good shape rolling over {A-Hearts}{a-Clubs}.

The board ran out {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, leaving the Delaney team with 1,300 in chips. Delaney promptly brought the teams full stack into play by using the rebuy card and boosting them to 6,300.

Re-Buy Cards

Players apparently have the option to bring the extra 5,000 chips into play at any time up to the end of level two. Some teams have opted to bring their full stack in straight away, while others are sitting on the rebuy card, hoping to save it till the end of the level and "shortstack" the tournament.

Garp and Lundmark Make Good Start

Tobias "Fabregarp" Garp and Kent Lundmark have made a good start to the day. They currently have 15,000 in chips, despite losing a 12,000 chip pot just before the break, which left them with 6,000 after they ran {A-?}{a-?} into {Q-?}{q-?} and the opposing team spiked a {Q-?}.

With Garp in control, they have steadily accumulated chips and are seeming confident about their chances in today's event.
