Aristidou Doubles - Even Stevens

A pitched battle is being fought
A pitched battle is being fought
With his tournament life on the line Peter Aristidou has doubled through with {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} against the {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} of Effie Bouyioukos. The board ran out {9-Hearts}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} to ship the pot Aristidou's way and leave the stacks virtually dead even at 220,000 a piece.

Team Bouyioukos Back with a Vengeance

Team Bouyioukos have doubled back through multiple times to drag the tournament back to almost even. Like a prize fighter up off the mat, they are throwing everything they can into staying alive in this tournament.

Of course in any tournament you need a little bit of luck too. In one such hand Effie Bouyioukos, still short stacked at that stage, moved in with {3-Clubs}{8-Spades} and was called by Peter Aristidou with {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

Aristidou's commanding position would last till the river. The flop of {5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} completely missed Bouyioukos, as did the {k-Spades} turn. However the {3-Hearts} river was just what she needed to double through and keep the tournament alive.

Team Bouyioukos on the Ropes

We're not far from a champion here. In yet another preflop confrontation Nick Bouyioukos has ran {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} into the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} of Amanda De Cesare.

Bouyioukos was unable to spike a winning hand on the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{q-Clubs} board and they drop down to just 26,000 in chips.

Vandersluis & Demetriou Eliminated in 3rd Place (AU$13,000)

Andrew Demetriou - 3rd place
Andrew Demetriou - 3rd place
Roy Vandersluis and Andrew Demetriou have been eliminated by the river. Roy Vandersluis was all in preflop with {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, against Peter Aristidou's {8-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

The board was all clear through the turn, with the flop {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Spades} and turn {4-Hearts}. The {k-Diamonds} river was the problem though, sending Vandersluis and Demetriou out in 3rd place.

Heads up will see Aristidou and De Cesare at 230,000 narrowly leading Team Bouyioukos at 210,000.

Noja & Alexander Eliminated in 4th Place (AU$9,500)

Richard Alexander - 4th place
Richard Alexander - 4th place
Daniel Noja and Richard Alexander have been eliminated. After his partner recently doubled up Effie Bouyioukos, Daniel Noja would run into Nick Bouyioukos in a preflop confrontation.

Noja's {8-Hearts}{9-Spades} would be well behind Bouyioukos' {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and would stay that way with the board running out {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds} to send the Noja/Alexander team to the rail.

Team Bouyioukos have 220,000.

Effie Bouyioukos Doubles into the Lead

Effie Bouyioukos
Effie Bouyioukos
Effie Bouyioukos has moved her team into the lead after doubling through Richard Alexander.

Bouyioukos with {A-Clubs}{k-Clubs} got all the chips in preflop against Richard Alexander {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. The board ran out {j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to give both players a pair but Bouyioukos' Ace-King kicker playing.

Team Bouyioukos move over 145,000. Alexander and Noja drop to 110,000.

Update

Play has slowed a little, here's the latest chip counts:

Aristidou/De Cesare - 105,000
Noja/Alexander - 185,000
Bouyioukos/Bouyioukos - 70,000
Vandersluis/Demetriou - 65,000
