Gus Hansen Arrives!

Gus Hansen has won the award for latest arrival. He's just taken his seat as we enter the fourth level of play for the day! Remarkably, he's going to start the day with a stack of just 12,875 of his original 20,000 start bank.

Gowen Rises Again

Clonie Gowen doubles through
Clonie Gowen doubles through
Clonie Gowen decided it was a good spot to get her chips in after the small blind bet 1,300 on a board of {K-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {Q-Spades} {6-Clubs}. She moved in for 4,275. The small blind called and tabled a combination flush-and-straight draw, {4-Spades} {7-Spades} against Gowen's top pair {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}. The river was a safe card for Gowen, {10-Diamonds}. She doubled up to 12,500.

Hansen in No Hurry

After being the last player to arrive this afternoon, Gus Hansen seems fairly content with his stack. He's now headlong into reading a book at the table, waiting for some spots to advance up the chip counts.

Still No Dwan

We caught a glimpse of Tom "durrrr" Dwan a few levels ago, when he graced the Crown Poker Room with his presence long enough to play a couple of hands. He hasn't been back since. His lonely stack sits at Table 26, continuing to be blinded off.

Nam Le Starts Over

Nam Le

All of the action was preflop for Nam Le and his opponent. Le raised to 2,800 after his opponent opened for 900. The other player then made it 8,000 to go. That raise sent Le into the tank, where he stayed for a minute before raising again, this time to 20,000. His opponent was all in for 25,000 after that, with Le making the call. Their hands were somewhat predictable:

Le: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}

There was no king to be found anywhere on the board. It ran out {4-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {7-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades}, knocking Le all the way back to the starting stack of 20,000 chips.

Juanda Eliminated

John Juanda was crippled after calling an all in bet on a flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} against a short-stacked opponent.

Juanda held top pair with {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} but his opponent showed {8-Spades}{9-Clubs} for a better kicker. The turn was a repeat {7-Diamonds} but the river bricked the {3-Spades} and Juanda was left with only a few thousand in chips which were taken from him a few hands later.

Nam Le Departs

Nam Le Eliminated
Nam Le Eliminated
Nam Le was hit the rail after the chips started flying on a board of {3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Le thought he held the goods with his pocket threes for a full house, however Greg Byard revealed {8-Clubs}{10-Spades} for a bigger full house on the turn.

Le is eliminated and Byard now sits with over 50,000 chips.

Shane Dye Rides Off

It's been hard luck all around for the Aussie sports greats today. Shane Dye flopped a big hand with {Q-Spades} {4-Spades}, making a pair and a flush draw on a flop of {K-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {6-Spades}. He got all of his chips in the middle, but he didn't have enough chips left to pressure his opponent into a fold. He called with {5-Spades} {5-Hearts}. Dye's monster draw never filled as the board came running threes, {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}. The champion jockey is out of this tournament.

Tom "Durrrr" Dwan Appears

The PokerNews team has made a rare sighting of the elusive Tom Dwan, who arrived at table 26. Dwan has returned to the table with 11,050 chips and it will be interesting to see if he has the time/inclination to do anything with that stack.
