Friedlander Takes One Off Karamalikis

Jonathan Karamalikis has been the most aggressive player at this final table. He's often the player to open the action for a raise preflop and this hand was no different. Karamalikis made his standard opening raise at this level to 37,000. Steve Friedlander made the call.

The flop came down {J-Spades} {6-Spades} {3-Diamonds} and Karamalikis checked. Friedlander bet 35,000 and Karamalikis called.

The turn card was the {Q-Diamonds} and Karamalikis led out for 70,000. Friedlander made the call.

The river card was the {6-Clubs} and both players checked.

Karamalikis tabled {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for just ace high and Friedlander tabled {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} for a pair of jacks.

Trip Nines

David Steicke limped in from the button and Jonathan Karamalikis checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn was the {5-Clubs} and both players checked again.

The river card was the {8-Diamonds} and Karamalikis fired 72,000. Steicke called, but mucked his hand after Karamalikis tabled {9-Clubs} {3-Hearts} for trip nines.

Steicke Takes Another One

Preflop from the button, Jonathan Karamalikis made it 37,000 to go. David Steicke in the big blind made the call and the two went to the flop.

Flop: {9-Clubs}{j-Spades}{k-Spades}

Steicke checked the flop and Karamalikis made it 40,000. Steicke made the call and the {9-Spades} peeled off on the turn.

Steicke again checked and this time Karamalikis fired out a bet of 90,000, which Steicke called.

The {5-Clubs} hit the river and Stiecke check-called Karamalikis' bet of 170,000.

Steicke showed {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for trip nines to win the pot.

Multiplicity

This event is only the 5th tournament at the 2010 Aussie Millions in Melbourne, but it's already David Steicke's second final table. Steicke placed 4th in the third event of the series, $1,100 Limit Hold'em. Steicke erned $9,000 AUD for his finish there and is already better than that here. The way things are looking now, Steicke should also improve past his 4th-place finish.

Over at the $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. event, Oliver Gill is also at his second final table of the series. He placed 4th in the $1,100 Pot-Limit Omaha event as is looking to better that performance in his latest deep run. You can check out the coverage of that event using the right-hand menu.

Friedlander and Karamalikis Battle

From under the gun, Steve Friedlander made it 53,000 and gets a call from Jonathan Karamalikis in the big blind. The flop came down {j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

In another hand against Friedlander, Karamalikis on the button made it 50,000 and was called. The board came down {6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and the two checked to the turn.

The {2-Hearts} came on the turn, which prompted a 65,000 bet from Friedlander and a call from Karamalikis. The {10-Clubs} river was checked and Friedlander showed {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}. Karamalikis mucked his cards and is down to 700,000 after these two confrontations.
