Event #4: No-Limit Hold'em Shootout

Day 2 Started

The Start of a New British Empire?

Welcome to the 2011 Aussie Millions Event 4 Final Table!
Welcome to the 2011 Aussie Millions Event 4 Final Table!

Another glorious day has greeted us here at the Crown Casino in Melbourne and PokerNews is once again front and center at the feature table for the final table of the 2011 Aussie Millions $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Shootout!

The event began with 158 players, including a cavalcade of international superstars including past Aussie Millions Main Event champions Tony Bloom, Stewart Scott and Tyron Krost, as well as a massive stable of Full Tilt Red Pros, featuring Annette Obrestad, James Akenhead, Scott Montgomery and 2010 APPT Grand Final champion Jonathan Karamalikis.

All of these players fell by the wayside, but we've already had eight players make the money. Ben Delaney, Sam Vakili, Toby Lewis, Neil Channing, Sam Georges, David Lacchia, Dave Morton and Dean Nyberg have all picked up their AUD $2,015 from the cage, leaving us with a final table worthy of any "Ashes" battle.

However, it's those limey Poms that make up 50% of the players returning today, outnumbering the Aussies (of which there are four) and the Koreans (one), as well as Denmark's Soren Blanner, who leads the chip counts with 334,900.

John Eames Eliminated in 10th Place (AUD$3,160)

John Eames Eliminated in 10th Place

And just like that, we've had our first elimination of the day.

From middle position, John Eames made it 19,100 to go and found a caller in James Keys from the hijack. The flop came down {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

Eames moved all in for his remaining 8,000 and Keys made the call.

Eames: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Keys: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The turn brought the {8-Clubs} and the river the {4-Diamonds} and Keys' queens gave him the pot, and moved his stack to 307,000 while Eames was sent to the payout desk as the first elimination of the day, collecting AUD$3,160 for his efforts.

Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are

The railbirds are out in full force, sweating their friends at this feature table here in the poker room at Crown Casino. If you're in the area, (or like many of you, upstairs here in the hotel), you should come down and check out the action!

A Mini Ashes Battle Ensues

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Rarely a flop has been seen since the elimination of John Eames, but we've already seen Australia's Barry Drysdale and England's John Keys go toe-to-toe in a couple of pots.

Earlier, Drysdale limped in from under the gun before Keys raised to 13,200, forcing the others out of the way. Drysdale called and both players checked the flop of {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} before Drysdale check-folded after Keys' bet of 16,500 on the turn of the {Q-Clubs}.

A few hands later Drysdale again limped in from middle position before Keys raised to 13,500 from the hijack position. Drysdale called, then fired out 20,000 on the flop of {7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Keys let his hand go into the muck.

In related news, not much else is happening, apart from Andrew Teng reraising all-in after a raise from Justin Walch preflop, but Walch folded. Action Jackson!

Another Few Hands

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

It's very much the case of much ado about nothing as the action (or lack thereof) continues all up in here.

The action folded around to Charlie Combes who raised to 10,500 from the button before the flop. Jack Powell called from the small blind and then he led out for 15,000 on the flop of {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. Combes mucked his hand.

A short time later, the action folded to Daniel Neilson who open-shoved his last 55,000 into the middle. Andrew Teng asked for a count and when Neilson responded, Teng folded, as did Barry Drysdale from the big blind.

Yay poker!
