Marsland on the March

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Dale Marsland is moving on up the counts after doubling through an opponent.

Marsland raised to 1,100 from under the gun and Matusow called from middle position before the opponent on the button reraised to 5,300. Marsland reraised all-in, Matusow folded and and the button called, showing down {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} but was trailing Marsland's {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

The board of {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} was spread, improving Marsland's hand to two pair and increasing his stack to 87,000 and change.

Rumbling With The Professor

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Folded to the player on the button he raised to 1,400 and sent action flying to the small blind. A call from the small blind would make it Howard Lederer's turn in the big blind. It would be 20,000 from Lederer which would force the button to fold, but the small blind liked his hand enough to call all-in.

Lederer: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {Q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Lederer would take a hit to his stack, sending his chips directly to his right.

Two hands later and it was folded to the same player to Lederer's right, raising to 1,600 from the cut off. With Lederer on the button he three-bet to 5,000. This time he bested his opponent as he folded and showed {7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

Monster Potten for PA

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Things are gettin' nuts up in here. People are trying to outplay Patrik Antonius. That's never a good idea. Just ask 2+2.

The cutoff opened to 1,500. In the small blind, Antonius made it 6,300 total. Maybe the cutoff's Ed Hardy hat was too tight or too blingy or too something, because he four-bet to 12,000. After a long pause, PA flatted.

The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, and Antonius checked quickly. His opponent bet 8,500, and Patrik called. The {k-Clubs} fell on the turn, and Antonius checked again. Mr. Hardy Hat tried to take it down with a bet of 36,000. No dice. Antonius instantly moved all in for only a few thousand more. The cutoff called, showing {j-Spades}{8-Spades} for an open-ended straight draw. Antonius held {k-Spades}{10-Clubs} for top two pair.

The rail went nuts with comments on the hands as the dealer laid out the {6-Diamonds} on the river. With that total brick, PA doubled up to around 125,000. His opponent was left with 13,000.

Glee For Lee

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Cliff Lee is now up to more 35,000 in chips after eliminating fellow Crown Casino regular Helena Wong.

Ivey raised to 1,500 from under the gun and Wong shoved for 9,500 from UTG +1 before Lee reraised all-in for 23,000 from the button. The blinds and Ivey got out of the way before the cards were tabled:

Lee: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Wong: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Wong did pair up on the flop of {7-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, but Lee soared further ahead with his head. The turn of the {10-Hearts} and the river {4-Clubs} changed nothing and Wong was sent to the rail.

Get 'Em Going!

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

The cards are back in the air! This will be the last level of the night before the remaining players bag and tag for the day.

Smith Stumbles

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Our PokerNews Reporter came to Dan Smith's table to see him locked in a hand, having Manny Rodriguez all-in with a flop showing {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

Smith: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Rodriguez: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Rodriguez would need to dodge all the clubs, queens and sevens if he was going to stay alive in this tournament.

With a {9-Spades} on the turn you can add another card that Rodriguez would need to dodge, but the river fell the safe {8-Diamonds} and Dan Smith would take a big hit to his stack, falling to 35,000.

Cajelais A-OK

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Erik Cajelais is storming back up the counts and is now holding more than 87,000 in chips after taking a chunk of change out of Alec Smith.

Cajelais raised to 2,000 from under the gun and the action folded around to Smith who called from the big blind. Cajelais leaned over the table to check out how much Smith was playing behind (about 30,000 or so) as the dealer produced the flop of {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Smith led out for 3,200 after the flop and Cajelais called before Smith checked his option on the turn of the {K-Spades}. Smith checked, Cajelais fired out 8,000 and Smith promptly mucked his hand.

Despite the setback, Smith is still on a reasonable stack worth about 29,000.

Big Slick Golden for Gould

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

The board read {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades} when Rhys Gould bet 7,400 from early position. His opponent in the hijack raised to 20,000. Gould moved all in for only 400 chips more and it was time to show. He was all smiles with {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} for top two pair, especially when he saw his opponent's {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for second-best two pair. The river was the {j-Spades}, and Gould secured a double up. His friends on the rail cheered and applauded as he stacked his new wealth - 58,000.
