Koon Racing Away

Jason Koon is on a charge and up to 190,000 chips after he eliminated a player. The American raised to 3,800 and made a considered call with {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} after the big blind moved all-in for 43,600. His opponent tabled {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} but fell behind on the {10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{a-Clubs} board.

Guttman Gets a Double in the Blinds

Michael Guttman was in the small blind when he three-bet an open from the player on the button. It was then on Hun Lee in the big blind and he four-bet all in for a gigantic amount. The dealer player got out of the way and Guttman made the call, putting in his last 29,100.

Guttman turned over his {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, well ahead of the {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} that Lee held. When the board ran out {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, Guttman took down the double and put a dent in Lee's stack.

Occy Shows Huge Bluff

When we got to Octavian Voegele's table there was a flop showing {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Voegele was in a hand against one opponent. Voegele's opponent led for 4,000 at which point Voegele made it 9,000. The leading player then popped it to 19,000 and Voegele made the call.

The {j-Spades} on the turn prompted Voegele's opponent to continue his aggression, sending out a bet of 25,000. At this point Voegele grabbed his stack of 5,000-denomination chips and a couple of 25,000-denomination chips and slid them out into the middle of the felt.

The amount was enough to put Voegele's opponent all in and after a couple of minutes thinking, the player decided to let go of his hand.

Just before he raked in the pot, Voegele tabled {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for a whole lot of nothing. His opponent looked sick as Voegele stacked his new chips.

The Party is at Table 30

The stakes are getting higher and higher, and so are the stacks. On table 30 we had to say goodbye to Jason Mercier, but his seat was quickly taken by Swedish player Robin Ylitalo. Ylitalo was chipleader for quite some time yesterday and is looking very healthy now with 220,000 chips.

On Tom Grigg's left we also welcomed a new player and that's Robert Lam who ended Day 1c with the chiplead. Lam just played a hand against Tom Dwan and found himself losing chips. Lam raised to 3,800 and got called by Dwan. The flop came down {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and both players checked. On the turn, the {6-Clubs}, Dwan bet 6,200 and Lam called.

On the river the {8-Hearts} popped up and Dwan bet 17,000. Lam tanked for ages and finally gave up the hand. "I caught a piece of that", Lam said as Dwan was stacking the chips. "I thought so when you tanked that long", Dwan said as play went on. Plenty of fireworks are still to come!

Nelson Looking for Another Aussie Millions Title

We caught the action on the river with a board reading {Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and about 50,000 in the middle. Pat Dillon had checked to 2006 Aussie Millions Main Event winner Lee Nelson, who fired out 25,000. Dillon thought for about a minute before making the call, only to muck when Nelson rolled over {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a flopped set.

Li Takes Some From G

Tony G
Tony G

Bjorn Li raised to 3,500 from the button, and Tony G called from the big blind. The flop came down {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Tony G check-called 3,900. On the turn the {6-Spades} hit and both players checked. The river was the {6-Hearts} and Tony G checked for the third time. Li threw out 12,000 and Tony G tank-folded.

Tony G is still well above the average stack that is just over 100,000 chips, he is looking to make a very deep run in this event.

Don't Touch My Blinds

Just a little notice for anyone that's planning on stealing Phil Ivey's blinds: Make new plans. Phil Ivey is still crushing at his table, and after someone just raised to 7,500 from the small blind, he decided to three-bet to 20,000 from the big. The big raise didn't impress Ivey who seems to be locked in to go very deep in this tournament.

Tran Goes For Another Double

Grant Levy opened the button to 3,300, and JC Tran shoved from the big blind. It was just a hair over 20,000, and Levy made the call with a chance at the knockout. But Tran had the goods.

Showdown
Levy: {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs}
Tran: {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}

Tran's rockets were never in danger as the board ran out {J-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades}, and Tran has doubled his way back to 45,000 for the second time this level.
