Gruissem Doubles Through Quoss

Level 14 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

On the very next hand after he three-bet Erik Seidel to win the pot preflop, Fabian Quoss opened with a raise from the cutoff seat to 16,000. Action folded over to Philipp Gruissem in the big blind, and he made it 44,000 to go. Quoss announced that he was all in, and Gruissem snapped it off.

Gruissem tabled the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, which was dominating the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} that Quoss held. Still, the five community cards could easily give Quoss the win if the run out was in his favor.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and Quoss was still behind. After the {9-Diamonds} landed on the turn, Quoss was looking for a jack on the river. The river was the {2-Spades}, though, and Gruissem successfully held to earn the double.

Kurganov Getting Frisky

Level 14 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Fabian Quoss raised to 16,000 on the button, and Igor Kurganov called out of the big blind to see the {Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} flop. Kurganov checked, Quoss bet 25,000, and Kurganov called.

The turn was the {J-Spades} to put three spades on board. Kurganov checked, Quoss bet 55,000, and Kurganov made the call.

The river was the {6-Hearts}, and Kurganov checked. Quoss checked behind. Quoss showed the {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, but Kurganov held the {K-Spades}{4-Hearts} for the winner.

"I was jamming the river if you bet," said Kurganov after the hand.

Possible Change of Scenery

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

With the Aussie Millions Main Event now complete, the production set is open and available. The TV crew has suggested moving this event upstairs to Aussie Millions HQ to film the final stages of the event, but that's still up in the air.

As it stands right now, the tournament will be moved upstairs at 7:00 p.m. at the latest, unless the players decide to move up there earlier. We will keep you posted.

Fabian Quoss Eliminated in 5th Place (AU$51,000)

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Fabian Quoss was all in from the cutoff seat for 70,000. Niklas Heinecker reraised all in from the button to 214,000. Igor Kurganov tanked for a couple minutes from the small blind, then folded. Philipp Gruissem asked Erik Seidel to help him sweat from the big blind, and Seidel did so.

The first card Gruissem looked at was a king, and then he said, "Ah man, I hope the second one's not a queen." The second one was a five, and Gruissem quickly folded.

Heinecker tabled the {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} to be up agaisnt Quoss' {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The board ran out {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, and Quoss was eliminated in fifth place. He earned AU$51,000 for his finish.
