David Steicke Eliminated in 7th Place (AU$450,000)

Level 19 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
David Steicke - 7th Place
David Steicke - 7th Place

Erik Seidel doubled through David Steicke to crippled him, and now he's delivered the fatal blow.

It happened when Steicke got his short stack all in preflop and Seidel called him.

Seidel: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Steicke: {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Steicke was in a bad spot, and it got much worse when the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop gave Seidel a full house. Steicke needed either running jacks or kings to survive, but that long shot didn't come in as the {4-Hearts} appeared on the turn followed by the {5-Diamonds} river.

With that, Steicke's hopes of repeating as champion of the $100,000 Challenge came to an end.

Steicke and Seidel Collide

Level 19 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Erik Seidel got his stack all in preflop holding the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and was well out in front of David Steicke's {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Seidel was the player at risk, but Steicke didn't have him covered by much. The {9-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop was no help to Steicke, and neither was the {K-Hearts} turn. In order to score the elimination he needed to catch a seven and a seven only. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {6-Diamonds}. Seidel held to double to over 600,000 while Steicke was left with less than 200,000.

Martin Jacobson Eliminated in 8th Place (AU$350,000)

Level 18 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante
Martin Jacobson - 8th Place
Martin Jacobson - 8th Place

Short-stacked Martin Jacobson was all in preflop and dominated against Yevgeniy Timoshenko. Jacobson had the {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}, and Timoshenko had the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} to give Timoshenko a pair of kings. The turn added a nice sweat when the {Q-Spades} fell to give Jacobson a flush draw, but the river was the {6-Diamonds} and that was the end of the line for Jacobson.

Jacobson finished in eighth place and earned AU$350,000 for his finish.

Timex with the Five-Bet Shove

Level 18 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante
Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Erik Seidel
Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Erik Seidel

Yevgeniy Timoshenko opened for 80,000 under the gun and Mike "Timex" McDonald responded with a three-bet to 200,000 from the button. The blinds both folded, and Timoshenko used one of his "time-bank" chips before four-betting to 375,000.

McDonald wasted little time in announcing that he was all in, and Timoshenko thought for about 30 seconds before tossing his hand to the muck.

Chop Pot

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

Mike McDonald opened to 80,000 from under the gun, Doug Polk called in the hijack, and the button and blinds both released.

The flop fell {2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, McDonald led out for 110,000, and Polk called. Both players checked after the {4-Clubs} turned, and the suicide king ({k-Hearts}) completed the board.

McDonald checked, Polk bet 340,000, and McDonald tossed out a time bank chip. He eventually moved all in for just under a million, and Polk used a time bank chip of his own before calling.

Both players showed down {a-}{j-}, and chopped the pot with Broadway.
