Smith Scores Double Elimination

Level 3 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

We didn't see the hand as it happened, but the tournament staff was kind enough to fill us in on a big hand that just went down at Table 24.

According to the floor, an action flop saw Paul Newey get his chips in with the {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a straight flush draw, Jonathan Karamalikis got it in with {a-}{a-}, and Dan Smith had them both on the ropes with {6-}{6-} for a set of sixes. Neither the turn nor river influenced the hand and Smith's set held to send two players to the rail.

Don't Forget About the Shot Clock

Level 2 : 300/600, 0 ante

Each player started the tournament with two red chips. These chips don't have a value, but are instead designed to give players a little extra time to think. That's because in this tournament there is a "Shot Clock" in effect. That means each player has just 30 seconds to make their decision.

Once 20 seconds pass, the dealers activate a stopwatch for the last ten. If the player hasn't acted by the time the clock expires, their hand is dead. Of course they can always use one of their red chips if they want to buy some time to think about their decision.

Right now it looks like all the players still have their red chips.

Watson vs. Haxton

Level 2 : 300/600, 0 ante

Mike Watson opened the action for 1,600 from the hijack and Isaac Haxton called from the cutoff. Justin Bonomo came along from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Bonomo checked, Watson bet 3,200, and Haxton thought for a bit before raising to 10,000. Bonomo got out of the way, Watson called, and then both players checked the {Q-Clubs} turn.

When the {Q-Hearts} river put three ladies on the board, Watson led out for 18,000 and it did the trick as Haxton released his hand.

Ung Looking for Another High Roller Title

Level 2 : 300/600, 0 ante

On a flop of {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, Senh Ung, who you may recall won the 2013 PokerStars.net ACOP HK$250,000 High Roller for HK$4,086,700 back in November, checked to Christoph Vogelsang on the button. The German bet 1,600, Ung called, and then both players checked the {j-Diamonds} turn.

When the {8-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Ung led out for 2,500 and Vogelsang quickly folded.

Another for Blom

Level 2 : 300/600, 0 ante

Three players each put in 3,500 preflop and took a flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu checked from the small blind, Mike "Timex" McDonald did the same from the under-the-gun position, and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom bet 6,800 from the cutoff. Negreanu folded and McDonald wasted little time in doing the same.

On a side note, Blom is seated at the same table as fellow online superstar Doug "WCGRider" Polk. It should be interesting to see see how there two titans of the virtual felt fair in the live realm.
