Blom Crippled, Then Eliminated

Level 6 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Rono Lo was all in for 167,000 with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} and in dominating position against the {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for Viktor Blom. The board ran out {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and Blom was crippled to 22,000 in chips.

On the next hand, Blom moved all in for 21,000 from middle position. Dan Smith raised on the button to 39,000, and Lo called from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and both Lo and Smith checked to see the {A-Hearts} pair the board on the turn. Lo checked, and Smith bet 18,000. Lo folded, and Smith first collected the side pot before revealing his hand against Blom's.

Blom tabled the {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, which was still live against Smith's {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. The river completed the board with the {5-Clubs}, and that was the end of the road for Blom. Smith moved to 660,000 in chips.

Mercier Busts Juanda; Up To 600K

Level 6 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier has been the beneficiary of a bit of a rush here in Level 6. First, he busted five-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner John Juanda, and then he scooped two pots to follow.

On the hand Mercier busted Juanda, Juanda opened to 16,000 from the hijack seat, and Mercier reraised to 40,000 on the button. After the blinds folded, Juanda jammed all in for around 155,000, and Mercier called.

Mercier had {A-}{K-} off suit against Juanda's {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. The board ran out {10-}{5-}{2-}{3-}{Q-}, and Juanda was eliminated.

After that, Mercier raised to cutoff seat and Rono Lo called from the button. The flop came down {Q-}{10-}{6-} with two diamonds, and Mercier check-called a bet of 16,000 to see a {7-} land on the turn. Both players checked, and the river was a repeat {10-}. Mercier bet 45,000, and Lo called.

Mercier tabled {10-}{9-} for rivered trips, and Lo mucked his hand.

Then on the next hand, Mercier opened to 16,000 from under the gun, Lo called from the cutoff seat, and Tony Bloom called from the big blind. The three players saw the flop come down {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}, and action checked around. After the {3-Spades} landed on the turn, action checked around again. Then, the {5-Hearts} landed on the river, and action checked to Lo. He bet 8,000, Bloom folded, and Mercier called.

Lo showed {K-Spades}{8-Spades} for king high, and Mercier tabled the winner with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.
