John Juanda Eliminated in 23rd Place (AU$40,000)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
John Juanda - 23rd Place
John Juanda - 23rd Place

After a very interesting three-way all in, John Juanda has been eliminated in 23rd place of the Aussie Millions Main Event.

It started when Andrew Phaedonos opened to 38,000 from under the gun. John Juanda three-bet to 101,000 in the cutoff, Jim Mourafas cold-called on the button, and Phaedonos called as well.

The dealer fanned {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, Phaedonos and Juanda both checked, and Mourafas fired out 206,000. Phaedonos called, Juanda moved all in for 407,000, and Mourafas called, leaving just 130,000 behind. Phaedonos called once again, and thinking Mourafas was also all in, Juanda tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for a pair of aces.

Quickly realizing his mistake Juanda turned his cards back face down, and the turn was dealt - {k-Diamonds}. Phaedonos moved all in for effectively 130,000 into a pot of over 1.5 million chips, and Mourafas tanked for a considerable amount of time before folding.

Phaedonos revealed {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a set of tens, Juanda re-opened his pocket aces, and the {k-Hearts} bricked off on the river.

As Juanda was collecting his things to leave he asked Mourafas what he had, but the Aussie shrugged it off, saying he didn't remember.

Hand Analysis

This is a curious hand in which Jim Mourafas was presented with a unique set of circumstances that warranted his folding after having committed 80% of his chips. Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Craig McCorkell and Ami Barer were involved in a hand on the {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. McCorkell was first and checked. Barer bet 24,000, and McCorkell check-raised to 79,000 with roughly 310,000 behind. Barer thought about it, but then folded, and McCorkell won the pot.

Barer Takes from Rubianes

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

From under the gun, Vincent Rubianes raised to 38,000. Ami Barer called out of the big blind, and the flop came down {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. After Barer checked, Rubianes bet 55,000. Barer check-raised to 140,000, and Rubianes made the call.

On the turn, the {8-Spades} was added to the board. Barer moved all in and had Rubianes covered. With a little over 300,000 left in chips, Rubianes folded, and Barer won the pot.

Limp-Reraise from Seiver

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Scott Seiver limped in from the cutoff seat, and then Tam Truong raised from the button to 55,000. After the blinds folded, Seiver reraised to 160,000. Truong called.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and Seiver bet 80,000. Truong made the call to see the {9-Clubs} land on the turn. Seiver bet 165,000, and Truong folded.

Andreas Lodemel Eliminated in 22nd Place (AU$40,000)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Andreas Lodemel was all in and at risk for around 200,000 holding {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. He dominated Eoghan O'Dea's {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, and remained ahead after the flop ({5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}), and the turn ({9-Clubs}).

The {j-Spades} spiked on the river, however, and Lodemel was eliminated in 22nd place. O'Dea chipped up to 1.35 million.

Rubianes Doubles

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Vincent Rubianes
Vincent Rubianes

Vincent Rubianes' comeback continues as he doubles through Ami Barer.

The money went in preflop with Rubianes' {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} trailing Barer's {a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. The flop fell {k-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, giving Rubianes a leading pair of kings, and the turn was a meaningless {3-Clubs}.

Only an ace could eliminate Rubianes, but he was safe as the {j-Diamonds} completed the board. The American doubled to 490,000 chips, while Barer dropped down to 600,000.

Craig McCorkell Eliminated in 21st Place (AU$40,000)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

A big 1.1-million pot just went down that — as you can tell by the title — resulted in the loss of Craig McCorkell.

We missed the betting details, but we do know that McCorkell was all in holding the {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} and flipping against the {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} of Ami Barer, who had his opponent covered by just 10,000!

McCorkell got it in good, but Barer took the lead on the {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop. The {7-Diamonds} turn gave McCorkell a gutshot straight draw, but he failed to hit as the {10-Spades} blanked on the river.
