Are You Ready for a Stacked Final Table in the $100,000 Challenge?

Welcome back to PokerNews' coverage of the 2015 Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge. After a few days off to allow players to play the Main Event without risk of scheduling conflict, the final table will commence today at 2:15 p.m. local time. The location will be the Aussie Millions Exhibition Hall at Crown Melbourne, and the stage couldn’t be larger.

With eight players remaining from the starting field of 70 total entries, young German superstar Ole Schemion heads the charge towards the title. Schemion is no stranger to big buy-in tournament poker and he’s certainly had his fair share of success throughout his very young career. Knowing the skill and experience he brings to the table, and combining that with his large chip lead, Schemion is without a doubt the favorite to earn the AU$1.87 million top prize.

The closest player to Schemion on the leaderboard is Jason Mo, a two-time World Series of Poker runner-up and a highly-talented player in his own right. Behind him is Erik Seidel, the winningest player in this event’s rich history.

By reaching the money this year, Seidel has now cashed in the Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge four times. His previous results were a second-place finish in 2007 for AU$550,000, a third-place finish in 2011 for AU$625,000, and a third-place finish last year for AU$1.076 million.

Then you’ve got plenty of notables filling out the field with Justin Bonomo, Dani Stern, Richard Yong, Scott Seiver, and Alex Trevallion.

Trevallion is likely the most interesting character at the final table simply because he’s stormed onto the live tournament scene with some great performances at this year’s Aussie Millions. First, Trevallion conquered a tough field in the $25,000 Challenge to win AU$645,150. He followed that up with a 33rd-place finish out of 648 runners in the Main Event for AU$25,000. He’s already locked up another AU$310,000 here and, albeit with having to battle as the short stack, could run it up to even more. Many are very curious to see how he’ll do here and possibly in the $250,000 Challenge that will conclude the festival with a massive bang.

Below is a video with Trevallion where Sarah Herring caught up with him during his deep run in the Main Event just to find out a little more about the man who's in full breakout mode:

As we said, the cards will be in the air at 2:15 p.m local time. If you’re in the Melbourne area, come on down to the Aussie Millions Exhibition Hall at Crown Melbourne and sweat some amazing high-stakes poker action. If you’re not, you can get all the coverage right here on PokerNews.

Alex Trevallion - 8th place

Alex Trevallion came in with the shortest stack and he was the first to bust.

He was down to fewer than 200,000 chips when he moved all in from mid position. The action folded around to Richard Yong in the big blind who made the call.

Trevallion: {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Yong: {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

The board ran {4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} to send the pot to Yong.

Level 18 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Dani Stern - 7th Place
Dani Stern - 7th Place

Richard Yong raised to 65,000 from the hijack and a short-stacked Dani Stern, who was crippled the hand before, opted to move all in from the small blind for roughly 200,000. Jason Mo folded from the big blind and Yong made the call.

Yong: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Stern: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Stern had woken up with a legitimate hand, but Yong was drawing to two live cards. The {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop provided both players gutshot straight draws, but as it was Stern was still ahead with his ace-king. The {2-Clubs} turn didn't change a thing, but the {9-Clubs} river did. Yong managed to pair up and Stern was felled in seventh place for AU$400,000.

Erik Seidel - 6th Place
Erik Seidel - 6th Place

Erik Seidel was left with around 320,000 after his recent loss and it didn't take long for them to be in the middle. He moved all in from the hijack and was called by Ole Schemion in the big blind.

Seidel: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Schemion: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The board ran {q-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades} to make Schemion a set.

Seidel has never won this event but has still managed to cash for a staggering AU$3.201million in it.

Jason Mo - 5th Place
Jason Mo - 5th Place

In the very next hand after Erik Seidel fell in sixth place, Jason Mo followed him out the door in fifth.

It happened when action folded around to Ole Schemion in the small blind and he opted to use his big stack to his advantage by moving all in. Mo, who looked to have approximately 500,000 behind, looked down at his cards and then announced a call.

Schemion: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Mo: {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Mo got it in good, but Schemion was drawing to two live cards. The {6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop gave Schemion an open-ended straight draw, and he managed hit it on the {A-Clubs} turn. Mo was drawing dead, and he took his leave from the tournament after the {K-Spades} completed the board on the river.

Justin Bonomo Eliminated in 4th Place (AU$800,000)

Level 19 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Justin Bonomo - 4th Place
Justin Bonomo - 4th Place

Justin Bonomo, the short stack at the table, raised to 95,000 from the button and was met by an all-in three-bet from Scott Seiver in the big blind. Bonomo snap-called off his stack and the cards were turned up.

Bonomo: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Seiver: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Bonomo was out in front, but the {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop was a dagger through his heart. Seiver flopped two pair to take a commanding lead, and he actually had Bonomo drawing dead by the {8-Diamonds} turn. The meaningless {K-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Bonomo made his way to the payout desk in fourth place to collect AU$800,000.

It took a bit of a cooler to lose the third-placed player here at the Crown after more than three hours of play since a bustout took place.

Ole Schemion raised from the button before Scott Seiver moved all in from the small blind and Richard Yong did the same from the big blind. Schemion folded to leave them to it.

Seiver: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Yong: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran {3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts} to send Seiver on his way with a million in his back pocket.
