Poker Tourist One Outed

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

It doesn't matter what the situation, it's never nice to be one outed. It's definitely made a whole lot worse though if it's the biggest tournament you've ever played in and been looking forward to it since qualifying online last April.

Gasps and groans could be heard all around the room and Asif Warris jumped up from his seat in disbelief. He stormed off in haze and looked like he was going to trash the place. After a minute or so, the Brit had regained his composure and came back to tell the full story.

A player opened to 600 from under the gun and was called in two spots before Warris squeezed to 2,100 from the big blind with aces. Only the small blind called to the {j-}{9-}{6-} flop where he check-called a 3,500 c-bet. An ace fell on the turn and Warris bet 5,100 and then moved all in when the small blind check-raised to 16,000. It was only a couple more thousand to call and the small blind did so with pocket sixes for a smaller set.

The dealer found the fourth six and placed on the baize to complete the board and break Warris' heart.

No Friends at the Table

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Not long ago they were spotted in the food court, laughing in each other's company as they lined up for coconut water. Fast-forward ten minutes and Bryn Kenney and Craig McCorkell are back their table, game faces on, as they battle heads up for a pot.

Kenney led for 1,300 with the board reading {9-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and McCorkell called. The river came as the {2-Clubs} and McCorkell reluctantly folded to a 3,100 bet.

"You wouldn't have liked that one if you'd called!" commented Kenney. McCorkell just smiled.

The very next hand, McCorkell raised to 600 and was called by both blinds before all three checked the flop. Aditya Agarwal was in the big blind and led out for 900 on the turn when the board read {j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Both opponents folded.

McCorkell may have lost a few chips but he's hydrated and full of electrolytes!

Watson Takes a Hit

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

After the player in the hijack limped, Mike Watson put in a raise to 800 from the cutoff. Daniel Neilson flatted from the big blind, the limper put in an additional 600, and it was three-way action to the {5-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop. Three checks later, the dealer burned and turned the {J-Diamonds}, and Neilson checked to the hijack, who bet 1,500. Watson called, Neilson folded and the {2-Spades} completed the board on the river.

The hijack thought for a few moments before betting 3,000, and Watson tossed in a call.

"Straight," the hijack declared and showed the {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. It was good as Watson sent his cards to the muck.

Krost Freerolling Aussie Millions Main Events for Life

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Tyron Krost
Tyron Krost

Back at the 2012 Aussie Millions, Tyron Krost won the Tournament of Champions Event, which invited all former Main Event winners to battle it our for ultimate supremacy... and a lifetime of buy-ins to the Aussie Millions Main Event!

Krost, who won this tournament back in 2010 for AU$2,000,000, defeated Tony Bloom in head-up play to win that event, meaning his entry into today's field was free of charge. Nothing like a freeroll!

In a recent hand, Krost opened for 500 from middle position and was met by a three-bet to 1,600 from the player in the cutoff. The big blind called, Krost put in the additional 1,100, and three players saw a flop of {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Two checks saw the cutoff continue for 3,800, and only Krost called to see the {3-Clubs} turn, which they both checked.

When the {5-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, action repeated itself and the cutoff, who was obligated to show first as the last aggressor, tabled the {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. It was good as Krost took one look at the cards and sent his hand to the muck.

Despite losing that hand, the former champ is still up a few thousand on the starting stack.

Russell Thomas
Russell Thomas
  • Super High Rollers Ole Schemion and Philipp Gruissem have joined the party late. Gruissem failed to make the final table in yesterday's $100,000 Challenge whereas his countryman heads into Saturday's final as the chip leader.
  • Dani Stern is almost back to starting stack after winning a small pot off Alex Lynskey. Stern check-called a 900 flop bet before they checked the rest of the way. The board rested as {q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Stern's {k-Spades}{10-Hearts} beat Lynskey's {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.
  • Russell Thomas is also almost back to starting stack. He called a 1,125 bet on a {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop before his opponent check-folded to his 1,650 bet on the {q-Hearts} turn.

Nacho's Full House Is Mo Betta

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Jason Mo ($100,000 Challenge)
Jason Mo ($100,000 Challenge)

Three players were in action on the {J-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, including Nacho Barbero and Jason Mo. After Barbero checked, Mo bet 3,500. The third player in the hand folded, and then Barbero made the call.

The {3-Spades} paired the board on the turn, and Barbero checked. Mo also checked, and the dealer completed the board with the {9-Clubs}. Barbero led with a bet of 6,700, and Mo went into the tank. Eventually, he raised all in for 22,000-23,000. Barbero immediately called.

Mo turned over a rivered full house with the {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, but Barbero's {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} proved to be the better full house. With that, Mo was eliminated during Level 3 of the Main Event and Barbero collected the pot and moved to 68,000 in chips.

Mo will still have plenty to look forward to from the 2015 Aussie Millions, though, as he's made the final table of the $100,000 Challenge that will resume on Saturday, Jan. 31. He's already guaranteed AU$310,000 in that event, and will likely increase that take seeing as he'll enter play second in chips among the final eight players.
