Hachem Finishes Off Schemion

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Ole Schemion (day 1c)
Ole Schemion (day 1c)

Ole Schemion has a couple of days to prepare for his huge day on Saturday (chip leader of the AU$100,000 Challenge) after he was eliminated from the Main Event by Tony Hachem.

Hachem raised to 1,700 before Schemion three-bet to 13,500, leaving just 1,200 behind. Hachem called thinking the raise was all in and put the extra in before the flop came down {k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Schemion called and the cards were on their backs.

Hachem: {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Schemion: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{a-Diamonds} to send the German superstar on his (not so) merry way.

Action Flop Cripples Schemion

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

We missed the action unfold, but we do know action exploded on a {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop between Ryan Yu and Ole Schemion that resulted in the former getting all in for 32,200.

Schemion: {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Yu: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Schemion had flopped a pair with a straight draw, but he found himself in a bad spot as Yu had flopped top set. Schemion was looking for some help, but neither the {9-Hearts} nor the {3-Hearts} proved useful. With that, Schemion sent a good portion of his stack over to Yu.

Hachem Keeps His Aussie Millions Hopes Alive

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Poker Hall of Famer Joe Hachem came into Day 2 with one of the shorter stacks, but he's played patiently waiting for a hand. He recently moved tables, which is when he finally found it. Hachem got his stack of 13,500 all in preflop and was at risk against Mikael Koistinen.

Koistinen: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Hachem: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Hachem was in great shape to double, and it got even better when the {9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop gave him a set. The {J-Hearts} turn improved him to a full house, and after the {3-Diamonds} was put out on the river he was pushed a much-needed double.

AU$65 seat man Glenn Leyland's Main Event ride has come to an end after an hour of play. He got his stack in dominated against Kane Kalas and couldn't find a way out.

All the chips went on preflop and the cards were flipped up:

Kalas: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Leyland: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Spades} to hand Kalas two pair.

Not a Repeat: Kanit Plays Big Pot with Aces

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Mustapha Kanit was in the Day 1b updates quite a lot. He played three big pots, all with pocket aces and he's back for more of the same today.

He was in the big blind and battling heads up with Mikael Koistinen. The board read {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Kanit led out for 13,500. Koistinen called on the button to see the {j-Hearts} river where he faced a 28,000 bet. He called and mucked upon seeing Kanit's {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}.

Back to the Poker King Club for Yu

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Winfred Yu
Winfred Yu

Winfred Yu, the man behind Macau's famed "Big Game" at Poker King Club, began the day on the shorter side of things, and it didn't take long for him to mix it up.

It happened when Bill Liapis opened for 1,800 from middle position and Yu defended from the big blind to see a flop of {q-}{4-Hearts}{2-}, which both players checked. When the dealer burned and turned the {8-Hearts}, Yu shoved his short stack all in and Liapis called.

Liapis: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Yu: {q-}{j-}

Yu got it in good with top pair, but Liapis was drawing to two overs and a flush draw. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {8-Hearts}. Yu made his flush and his Day 2 came to an unceremonious end.

Buddiga Buliding

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Pratyush Buddiga didn't manage to make a chip profit in Day 1c but he's on the up here on Day 2.

Aristomenis Stavropoulos raised to 1,700 from the cutoff and both blinds called, including Buddiga in the big blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{q-Clubs} and all three checked to the {8-Clubs} turn where Buddiga led for 3,500. Stavropoulos was the only caller to the {6-Diamonds} river where he called another 8,500.

Buddiga opened {j-Spades}{9-Spades} for a straight and scooped the pot.
