Terence Clee Eliminated in 14th Place (AU$70,000)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Terence Clee - 15th Place
Terence Clee - 15th Place

Terence Clee limped under the gun and was met by a raise to 66,000 from Joel Douaglin on the button. The blinds both folded, Clee just called, and the flop came down {3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{q-Spades}. Clee was first to act and led out for 100,000, which Douaglin min-raised to 200,000.

Clee thought long and hard before calling, which left him 443,000 behind. After the dealer burned and turned the {K-Clubs}, Clee checked and Douaglin took his time before sliding out 200,000. Clee thought equally as long and then committed about half his remaining chips to make the call.

When the {10-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Clee took about 30 seconds before stacking his chips and placing them in the middle.

"I call," Douaglin said excitedly and rolled over the {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for the rivered nuts. Clee stood up and went to muck his cards. Since it was an all-in situation the dealer was obliged to show his hand, and she revealed Clee had missed a flush draw with the {5-Spades}{7-Spades}.

Clee exited in 14th place for AU$70,000 while Douaglin was pushed the robust pot.

Sarkiss Osalian Eliminated in 13th Place (AU$70,000)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Sarkiss Osalian - 13th place
Sarkiss Osalian - 13th place

Lennart Uphoff sat confused and not sure what to do after his 35,000 under the gun raise was reraised all in for 1,008,000 by Sarkiss Osalian from the small blind.

The German had 1,052,000 so the call was effectively for his tournament life. He called and two million chip flip was about to commence.

Uphoff: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Osalian: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The board ran {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} to send Osalian home and the massive pot the way of the German, who still looked confused at the way the hand played out.

Lennart Uphoff
Lennart Uphoff

Lennart Uphoff has added more chips to his stack after getting a couple of streets of value out of pocket kings.

He raised to 45,000 from the hijack and was only called by Richard Lyndaker on the button. The flop fanned {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Uphoff continued for 55,000. Call. Uphoff bet another 120,000 on the {8-Hearts} turn and was called again. The board completed with the {j-Diamonds} and both players checked.

Uphoff opened {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and raked in the pot after Lyndaker mucked.

Play Slows Considerably

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 30,000 ante

After an action filled, elimination frenzied first two levels of play here on Day 4 the action had to slow down at some point. That point seems to be the current (third) level of the day and was to be expected seeing as the average big blind count is around 60 deep.

Table 31 has only seen Lennart Uphoff show down a hand so far although a few hands have played to the river without showdown.

Richard Lyndaker has got back over a million after he raised pre flop and bet the turn and river of a {7-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board. Raiden Kan stuck with him but folded to the 95,000 river bet.

Kan and Levy Collide

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 30,000 ante

Grant Levy opened with a raise from the hijack — how much we're not quite sure — and Raiden Kan responded with a three-bet to 125,000 from the big blind. Levy called, the flop came down {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and Kan bet 150,000. Levy made a quick call and then watched Kan fire out 250,000 on the {Q-Clubs} turn.

Levy thought for a minute before calling, and the {J-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Kan slowed down with a check, and Levy seemed tempted to bet, though he ultimately checked behind. Kan showed the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} for an overpair, but it was no good. Levy held the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and got lucky to find a third jack on the river.

Barer Tanks

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Barer in the tank against Rast
Barer in the tank against Rast

As the dealer pulled in two big stacks of chips from Ami Barer and Brian Rast on the {Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades} board, the pot swelled. The river was the {K-Spades}, and Barer, the defending champion of this event, checked. Rast announced that he was all in, and that put the pressure on Barer.

With just about 965,000 behind, Barer went into the tank. He stayed in the tank for a very, very, very long time. It was well over 10 minutes, and maybe closer to the 15-minute mark, that Barer tanked for on the river. Eventually, Rast called the clock. The clock ran all the way down to zero on Barer, and his hand was ruled dead. Rast didn't show and scooped in the pot to move to 3.325 million in chips.

Douaglin Bluff Attempt Fails

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 30,000 ante

Lennart Uphoff has edged closer to 2.5million after he picked off a Joel Douaglin bluff with ease.

He raised to 45,000 from the cutoff and Douaglin defended his big blind to see a {6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop appear. The action was checked to the {5-Hearts} turn where Douaglin led for 55,000. Call. Douaglin tried again on the {a-Spades} river, for another 105,000, but was snapped off by Uphoff.

He opened {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and lost out to Uphoff's {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.
