Shivan Abdine Eliminated in 3rd Place ($49,650)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Shivan Abdine
Shivan Abdine

Michael Dix defended his big blind and rivered a straight with {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} to get paid off by initial raiser Brendon Rubie for 210,000 on a board of {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. One hand later, Dix folded the button and Rubie open-shoved into short stack Shivan Abdine. The latter had around 525,000 chips remaining and nodded, then turned over his cards for the showdown:

Abdine: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Rubie: {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The flop {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} was a sweat for Abdine, as Rubie had a gutshot and flush draw. It was all over after the {5-Diamonds} turn, making the {J-Spades} river meaningless. Abdine takes home A$49,650 for his efforts and Rubie enters heads-up with a 3-2 lead over Dix.

Xixiang Luo Eliminated in 4th Place ($39,720)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Xixiang Luo
Xixiang Luo

Just one hand after his double up, Xixiang Luo open-shoved as first to act and the action folded around to Michael Dix. He peeked at both his hole cards and then announced the call.

Dix: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}
Luo: {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

The board {5-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} left Luo with only 15,000 chips and 5,000 of those disappeared for the ante. He was forced all in the next hand and Brendon Rubie limped in, Dix called from the small blind. Rubie then bet the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop for 50,000 and Dix "folded a winner".

Luo: {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Dix: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

Again the ace-rag found no help as the {3-Hearts} turn and {4-Hearts} river were both blanks. Luo's story from hero to zero lasted all but 10 minutes after the dinner break and he finished fourth.

Spades!

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Xixiang Luo shoved all in over a 90,000-chip Michael Dix raise and Dix called with the {j-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Luo had the spades covered with the {a-Spades}{7-Spades} and they both flopped a flush when the {3-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} came out. The {4-Hearts}{j-Hearts} turn and river combo left Luo with the nuts and the double up.

Break!

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

The four remaining players are now on a 40-minute dinner break. Play will resume at approximately 10 p.m.

No Flops in Sight

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

The playing style has been pretty much reduced to clicking buttons. Brendon Rubie typically min-raises and scoops the blinds and antes half of the time while folding to three-bet shoves for the other half. All other players including second-biggest stack Michael Dix keep shoving regularly and no call or even a flop has been in sight at all.

All In Festival

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Both Xixiang Luo and Shivan Abdine have moved all in several times as of lately without getting called. Luo once showed the {K-Diamonds}, then raised to 70,000 soon after. Michael Dix called in the big blind and then shoved the flop {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} to enforce a fold.

Dix Fights Back

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Brendon Rubie made it 65,000, Michael Dix shipped it in for 550,000 and Xixiang Luo jammed for even more.

Rubie let it go and Lou had Dix dominated with the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} over the {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}. However, the {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{j-Spades} board ensured Dix the double, making him a pair of nines.

A disappointed Lou is now the shortest stack of the four.
