Josep Maria Galindo: {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Massive Pot Pushed to O'Neill

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

A big pot just went down at Table 27 involving Josep Maria Galindo and Jack O'Neill.

Unfortunately we arrived to the scene late when there was around 220,000 already in the middle and a board reading {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Jack O'Neill had 185,000 out in front of him on the button and Galindo, who was sitting in the hijack, was in the tank.

Minutes passed by as a swarm of media and spectators awaited Galindo's decision, which if he called would cost him all but 40,000 of his chips. Eventually Galindo spiked in a call, and he no doubt regretted it as O'Neill confidently rolled over the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} for kings full of queens. Galindo mucked.

Hachem Not Shying Away from the Bubble

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Joe Hachem just showed that he isn't scared to put his chips in on the bubble of a major event. Two times in back-to-back hands, Hachem moved all in. On the first, he shoved from under the gun and everyone at his table folded. On the second, Hachem three-bet jammed from the big blind and took down the pot.

Gruissem Doubles Ren in Huge Pot

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Philip Gruissem
Philip Gruissem

We were there only for the showdown of this big hand, but Xingrong Ren was kind enough to fill us in on the details afterwards.

After an early position raise to 10,000 it was Phillipp Gruissem who called from middle position. Ren three-bet squeezed to 36,000 from the small blind and the big blind and initial raiser both gave up. Gruissem called in position.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Ren made a bet of 40,000. Gruissem called.

The {8-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Ren checked. Gruissem announced all in and Ren snap called for 174,500!

Philipp Gruissem: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Xingrong Ren: {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The river {2-Hearts} was a blank and Gruissem parted ways with a huge part of his stack.

Aces for Ko

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Ari Engel just raised to 12,500 and Daniel Engels called from the small blind before Yuki Ko three-bet to 52,500 from the big blind. Engel tanked for a bit before folding, and Engels made the call.

The flop brought out {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and both players checked. On the turn the {K-Spades} hit and again the action was checked. The river brought the {5-Spades} and now Engels lead out for 88,000 and Ko called right away.

Engels showed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Ko won the pot with {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}.

Silver Finishes Off Brown

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Last level, Max Silver doubled through Jason Brown with aces against Big Slick. The hand left Brown crippled, and as fate would have it Silver would finish the job here in Level 16.

We missed the elimination hand, but Silver explained it was blind on blind. He held pocket kings in the small, Brown had jacks in the big, and long story short it resulted in the latter busting from the tournament.
