Sontheimer Slows Down Peters

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

David Peters opened from middle position to 7,500 with Steffen Sontheimer the only caller in the small blind. Both players checked the monochrome {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop.

The {4-Hearts} turn saw Sontheimer open for 14,500, which was enough to get Peters to give it up.

Undeterred Peters opened the next hand, again for 7,500, this time finding no callers.

Now sitting under the gun plus one Peters raised for the third time in a row, again making it 7,500. Sontheimer opted to look Peters up once more, this time from the cutoff and action went heads-up to a flop of {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

Both players checked the flop and the subsequent {6-Diamonds} turn before Peters led out for 15,000 on the {q-Hearts} river. Sontheimer thought for 15 seconds before making the call, his {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} leading Peters’ {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to take the pot.
